“Clean, comfortable, helpful staff, disappointing breakfast”
Hotel Rex is just behind the promenade overlooking the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius. The area is quiet and safe with a good selection of restaurants. Parking is available just round the corner. The Piazza del Plebiscito is 5 mins walk away and from there you can easily walk to the main sites. The room was comfortable and clean, and the service friendly and helpful. Italian breakfasts are disappointing - too many sweet offerings and over-strong coffee, even for European tastes - and this was no different. Unsweetened croissants and some savouries would offer more choice. Overall though a really good place to stay and thoroughly recommended.
“hotel rex”
We needed a hotel in a safe area yet walking distance from the main street shoppping area, 7 minute walk for the boat port. boat ride from sorrento to Naples, great. follow the map and you will get to the hotel. The hotel had no elevator, the bus man only carried two bags, we carried the rest up the stairs. Had to leave early ar 5am next day to catch 7am flight. They would not call for a cab til we were downstairs but he was there in 2 minutes. hotel quoted charge for cab was not the same as the cab driver charged claiming special charge for the time of morning ,no trafic though and made it in plenty of time, Area ok for walking to shopping during day, would not recommend walking around at night, greatest pizza place very close and recommended by staff. opens @7:30 pm the best pizza in Italy, and we tried them in Venice and Sorrento. Sorrento was very a very close second.
“Great location, Nice hotel”
Great location: Take bus 151 (not 152 as indicated in the hotel's website) from train station directly to hotel or taxi (negociate 13 euro without baggage) Walking distance to Molo Beverello for taking boat to Capris Great restaurant at Via St Lucia (3 minutes walking) suggest pizza at restaurant Ettore and spaghetti at Marino. You can also have a nice dinner at Pizzeria Drandi (walking 15 min from hotel) Clean room. Friendly and helpful front desk. Wireless connection at lobby only.
“Great location!!!!”
The hotel was located in a great area, walking to attractions was easy, good food was a block away(Zio Jack was great and reasonable) and the staff was helpful. We will stay there if in Naples again.
“Not super, but OK hotel”
Little bit cheap typical continental breakfast. Easy to find if driving from highway. Parking is 2min away from hotel. Compared to the rest of Naples located in a good neighborhood. Walls of the room were requiring renovation. Air conditioning is kinda funny needs be to turned on from the lobby (or via service call).
“Fantastic location!”
This hotel is about 150 feet from the seafront promenade and the luxury 4-5 stars hotels which line it in the Santa Lucia neighborhood. It is within walking distance, 10-15 minutes of the San Carlo Opera House, the Royal Palace, the Galleria, Castel Nuovo, and other tourist sites. Transportation to other city sights ,with transfers, is 100 feet away. The hotel decor is OK. the staff, particularly at the the front desk, could be friendlier and greet guests properly.; breakfast in a small first floor area is bearably adequate. Air condition units for the rooms are controlled by the front desk and turned only upon request. The lame excuse given is that many guests find it difficult to operate the unit remote control! the temperature is set at 22 C and cannot be lowered or raised. The cleaning staff skimps on toilet paper and during our 8 days stay we had to ask for it twice. Despite these shortcomings, which could be easily rectified if management was made aware and took action, the location and safety of the area made our stay, if not pleasurable,at least pleasant.
“Best if Staying within Naples”
This hotel was right by the sea in a nice part of town. Perfect if you are exploring within Naples itself. However, if you are planning on doing day trips to Pompeii/Caserta/Amalfi coast, etc., you need to walk about 30 minutes to the train station or wait for the bus so may want to consider a hotel closer to the station. Near the end of my stay, the hotel was going through extensive renovations.
“Such a great stay :)”
I was in Naples for business and my stay at the REX hotel was excelent. The hotel was nice, clean, the room was very big and nicely decorated. I LOVED the breakfast that was delivered every morning at my room, delicious capuccino and pastries with butter and mermelade. The staff was always very helpful, and the price was very decent. The only bad thing is that on the weekend the street was a bit noisy because of the restaurants and bars nearby and I was on the first level, but everything else was really great, i would definetely stay there again.
“Basic (minus)”
For my last night in Italy, I decided to be frugal and this hotel fit the bill. It was basic which I expected. What I didn't expect was the air conditioner that sounded like a 747 on take-off and the toilet that ran all night. Location was good but ultimately the maintenance issues were a deal breaker.
“Posizione eccellente”
Nella zona più bella di Napoli, a due passi (letteralmente) dal lungomare. Un po piccola la saletta per le colazioni ma buona la qualità del cibo. Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo per un 3 stelle a Napoli.
