“Fun, Local Hotel”
Good location for shopping and museums. Could walk to everything we wanted to see. It is a business hotel, not a tourist hotel.
“Comfortable hotel in centre of Madrid”
Hotel felt slightly impersonal, although staff we spoke to were pleasant and helpful. Room very comfortable and spacious. Plenty of storage. Excellent bathroom We really only needed somewhere to sleep so it was fine for us. Gran Via very noisy so we were grateful for room facing on to side street. Double glazing very effective!
“Great Location”
Location, Location, Location. The staff was very helpful. The rooms were beautiful and the balcony was an added touch! The only downfall was the noise level late at night. It would be helpful if they provided some kind of noise machine to block out the loud outdoor noises.
“Fantastic hotel in a great location”
This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in. It's in a great location and easily walkable to the Metro stations at Gran Via, Sevila or Banco de Espana. The street of Gran Via hosts numerous shops and the Palacio Real de Madrid, Plaza de Cibeles, Plaza Mayor, Puerta de Alcalá and Metropolis Building are all within walking distance and worth seeing. The hotel itself has been modernised with comfortable rooms that are well insulated to the busy streets outside. There is a bar on the hotel roof, but the view was poor, it's only really the roof tops of neighbouring buildings you see. That said, it's a nice, quite retreat for a drink at night. Staff were friendly, helpful and spoke good English. I really can't think of anything negative, I'll certainly return to Madrid and use this hotel.
“Great location but noisy”
Ideal location. Central to city of Madrid. Metro within walking distance. Bus stop right outside door. Would request interior room next time because even though we were on 5th floor it was very noisy with traffic at all hours of the day. Ideal for young folks who enjoy getting out. Not for quiet, restful time.
“Brilliant hotel in a fantastic location”
Great hotel, staff were friendly and helpful. The rooftop bar was great but we did not eat at the restaurant. Convenient and central location.
“Scuzzy neighbourhood”
For a four-star hotel, De Las Letras was acceptable. The front desk service, however, was minimal to terrible. My roommate had several run-ins with the front desk over simple questions. She was made to feel inconsequential. The lounge service on the first floor, however, was very good. When we first arrived, we went for a walk in the surrounding neighbourhood - our first impressions were not good - dirty, hawkers and peddlers everywhere, hookers also quite numerous.
“Great Hotel”
We have just returned from an 8 day stay at de Las Letras Hotel in Madrid and can highly recommend it to others. Our room was spacious and comfortable and immacculately clean. We only had breakfast once and whilst it was perfectly pleasant certainly wasn't worth the 18 Euros per person, when there are perfectly good and much cheaper options for breakfast within 30 seconds of stepping outside the front door. We did however eat in the hotel on 2 occasions - once in the dining room and once as a bar meal - both of which were very good and reasonable value for the money. The Gran Via is very busy and noisy and it was very hot but the hotel offered us an oasis of calm and comfort - we loved it, and would definitely go back.
“great location, great rooftop bar, professional staff”
De Las Letras Hotel is midway between the Prado and the Royal Palace on Gran Via (a nice walk to either destination). You can't beat this central location. The express bus to BarajasAirport is a short walk down the hill at Cibeles Square. The Metro is a block away. Plenty of restaurants are also within walking distance. The staff is extremely professional and most helpful. The rooms are very clean, with well stocked mini bars, and flat screen tvs. The beds are comfortable. The bathrooms are well appointed. The rooftop bar is a relaxing place to regroup after a day of sightseeing. I will return.
“Great location in Madrid”
The hotel is located in a really beautiful old building with modern and fashionable interiors. Everything was super confortable, and super clean, but I would point out two outstanding aspects: a great service from the staff and an unbeatable location! One block away from the subway in case you choose to move around that way within Madrid but also in an area where you can walk to several locations as museums and attractions.
