“not recommended”
Hotel needs serious updating. Outside door did not close. TV reception bad, remote not functional. Fairly clean, but...
“Old and out dated”
Close to highway, nice view of lake, hotel old and out dated, covered parking.
“just ok”
Hotel was only conveniently located. Really stinky hallways like a wet musty smell on the verge of catbox and really not well kept with the times they should update everything! We needed a place close to Hyde park for a wedding and the room was o.k. but slightly stinky making it seem unclean but for one night it was fine.
“Daniel Alberts”
6 miles from city center. Free twice daily shuttle to downtown. Also on bust line to downtown. Free parking on site. $16 cab ride to downtown.
“Great for Hyde Park”
great location and only decent hotel in area... hotel needs a renovation, hallways smell dingy and bad.. but the rooms themselves are clean and comfortable... and beds were really good..
“It was only OK!”
There was no access to a microwave, refrigerator, the service was ok; but, not anything memorable. The maids were loud and only speak Spanish. The DISH went out EVERY time it rained. No washer/dryer access. That was a lot of nots for over a hundred per night.
“Great access to bookstores, Court Theatre, museums of University of Chicago.”
Free parking a perk for Chicago area--view of skyline and quick drive to downtown area while great access to all University of Chicago activities and restaurants. Functional but convenient for those who know the area.
“Poorly run and maintained hotel in proximity to McCormick Pl w. indifferent staff.”
This may be the worst hotel to bear the Ramada brand fr. Wyndham. I had to pay an extra high rate for a major convention about 50% above current quote. Lowlights included terrible front desk which went out of their way to make guests feel a bother and unwelcome. Totally unprofessional. Assigned to a room without internet, tnen reassigned to room without A/C. Final room was spacious but filled with ancient rundown furniture with peeling wallpaper and rusty bath water. Fitness rm machines largely nonfunctional. Low speed internet which often failed was exasperating. Next door restaurant was a terrible value. However proximity to McCormick Place convention center and lowest rate available were pluses but did not make up for the severe hardships of staying at this most unusually terrible Ramada.
“Great proximity to the University.”
I'd go back. I had a weekend event at the U of Chicago and I definitely appreciated the proximity to the University.
“One of the Worst Hotels I Have Stayed At Recently”
The hotel room did not have a working thermostat. There was no way to control the temperature in the room. There was no air conditioner. There was only a heater that was either on or off. The room was always hot. When I told the front desk, the clerk told me to control the temperature by opening my windows while I slept (in downtown Chicago!). The neighborhood was dangerous. I was told that it was unsafe to to walk 2 or 3 blocks to a restaurant. The ice machince did not work. The television was unclear and "snowy". The bed was hard.
