Great staff. Very helpful and go out of their way to make your stay special.
Expensive to eat there.
Quiet hotel, looks like a museum, really beautiful. Lovely pool in nice grounds, which never gets too busy.
You can walk into Frascati, bit there is a mini bus which takes you into town and back at set times.
We drove in - there was plenty of parking at the hotel.
People running the hotel were nice and helpful.
We wanted a 4 person room but they were sold out (or don't have one). We had to get doubles - they made sure they were adjacent.
Air Con was great. There was a small refrigerator which we could use (very helpful for holding big water bottles).
Biggest problem was that the beds were not comfortable -- not sure if this is because we ended up with 4 single beds (and in all other hotels, these kinds of beds would have been for the kids, where we would have had a double-bed).
Breakfast (included) was great - they showcased homemade treats -- tarts and cakes, but also had the usual wide variety of breads/cereals/yogurt/meat/cheese - juices along with coffee, cappuchino and espresso. Served in the beautiful dining room overlooking the lake.
Restaurant was great as well - we arrived on Sunday afternoon -- most diners seemed to be Italian families enjoying a big multi-generational Sunday gathering. We had dinner later that night as well -- much quieter. The waiter was REALLY nice -- brought us a few extra treats to try out (both lunch and dinner -- none of which appeared on the bill). No sooner sat down to lunch then a glass of Prosecco was poured for all (again - no charge - just sit back and roll
See below - WiFi needs to be fixed.
We were flying out the next day (close to both airports) -- but we had trouble downloading movies for the flight.
Hotel was clean, modern and staff very friendly. View from restaurant was fabulous. Only downside was that aircon was not working but windows could be opened. Wifi was good with no irritating password required. Extremely reasonably priced, would definitely stay again.
Great Hotel overlooking the lake! Can understand why the Pope spends his summers in the region. The only downside to the hotel was the shower head being extremely low (chest height) and that the water leaked over the floor. Other than that it was an excellent experience and lovely people at the hotel!
"Great alternative to avoid chaotic Rome, Frascati"
I use to rate hotel between two categories; either those you would forget, or those you would love to come back. This is one of the latter. Frascati is a very nice village outside Rome, and the Villa Tuscolana is the best hotel at the top of a hill, ensuring the best dramatic view over the city. The place, gardens, constructions and forestry is awesome. Only 25 mins way from Rome this place is a great alternative to avoid the city and swap for great typical food, peacefull environment and green.
This is a beautiful and well appointed hotel in a little village in the mountains, very close to Rome.
Our room was quite large for Italy, very clean and the linens were gorgeous! The staff very friendly and extremely attentive. The restaurant at the hotel is five star, also the restaurants on this little street are gourmand and noteworthy. We will definitely return!

Favoured as an out-of-town retreat for the Romans, the Castelli Romani are hilltop villages descended from fortified castles of the Middle Ages. Set on the outer rims of extinct volcanic craters of the Albani Hills, the air is refreshing and the rich, volcanic soil is ideal for vine-growing. Well-known for its crisp, white wine, Frascati is the most accessible of the Castelli Romani. Nearby is the Pope’s summer palace, the Castel Gandolfo.
