Great little friendly hotel and close to n.e.c

Posted 09-Jan-2015
Pros: Friendly helpful staff and a nice relaxing feel to the place.
Cons: Disabled parking not very good. Water was cold in the morning
Location: Great location for n.e.c and centre of Birmingham. Getting to n.e.c is easy and two minutes. Motorcycle museum is close too!
Stayed before and enjoyed it. This is a lovely friendly smaller hotel with a bit of character compared to others. They even sell Bacardi! The staff are friendly and very helpful which makes to a good atmosphere all round. My only gripe was the water was cold in the morning when I went for a shower but forgot to mention it at reception. Will definitely stay here again when going to n.e.c as the prices where good too!

Overnight stay close to the LG arena

Posted 24-Dec-2014
My wife and I stayed here on a last minute booking at a fantastic price. We went to see Russell Howard at the LG, there's a cut through at the back of the hotel which takes you to the tunnel and crossover at the back of the arena (10-15mins). Time didn't permit us to use any of the leisure facilities but they look good. Reception and bar areas are very welcoming with the staff being very pleasant, it were a very quiet Sunday at the hotel after the show so we ordered in a late night pizza because no hot food were being cooked up and we were allowed to eat it in the bar area. Corridors and carpets to our room were outdated (90's) but clean and in good condition ( it reminded me of the TLH in Torquay). Rooms were clean and tidy but again if I'm being super hyper critical could do with a little bringing into the 21st century( mostly the bathroom). I'm under the understanding that rooms are being done and the hotel is about half way through this. Overall the stay was very enjoyable and with the price I paid I'm definitely not complaining.

20 mins walking distance to NEC

Posted 15-Dec-2014
Pros: Friendly staff and good food at a reasonable price
Cons: Furniture and carpets need updating. Cleaning staff need monitoring.
Location: 20 mins walk to NEC
Arrived at 8pm and struggled to find a parking spot. Ended up at the back of the hotel and helpful staff directed us to reception. Room was a standard size, but furniture is shabby and in need of an update. Bathroom not cleaned well as found price tickets from previous occupant stuck to wall. However, was quiet and even though hotel was fully booked we weren't disturbed. Had a burger and beer in the bar. Food of a good quality, arrived quickly and bar staff polite and helpful. Walked to the NEC via the train station and took 20 mins to main hall. Wouldn't recommend walk at night or if on own. Not worth paying for at full price, but booked at a discount rate 2 weeks before. Would use again if could do the same.

Excellent hotel at a very convenient location

Posted 08-Dec-2014
Pros: All the facilities we were requiring. The staff were excellent and even rang to check that the room was up to our expectations. Very good food also.
Location: The NEC complex is within walking distance and a train station is nearby to travel to Birmingham, etc.
We stayed at the Arden to be close to the LG arena which is in easy walking distance and with easy travelling to Birmingham.
