“Don't there are better hotels for the price”
Don’t eat in the restaurant. E.g. their idea of a Mexican Vegetarian burger is a cold but overcooked veggie Pattie a feat in itself with a couple of thin slices of a very small tomato and a few shreds of lettuce swimming of a lake of mayonnaise straight from the jar in the fridge between two untoasted bread buns. Not even a hint of Guacamole or Salsa. I have spent allot of time in Mexico if there was anything remotely Mexican about this disgusting mess for £8.95 then I’d eat a sombrero because it would probably taste better. The Chunky wedges were just plain chips straight from Tesco’s and the deserts were premade brought in out of the fridge. I was kept awake most of the night by the noises from the other guests because of the paper thin walls in a Deluxe ha ha room e.g. No mini bar and not even a bottle of water. The best part was the bill in the morning included a charge for the room which I had already paid for via expedia and the full cost of the disgusting food even though I sent it back untouched and complained about all of which took an age to rectify including a conversation with a duty manager who never called me back as promised. All in all a dump masquerading as a reputable hotel. If you want no sleep and disgusting food this is the place for you.
“Handy location”
The Holiday Inn is in good location for the theatres, Bullring and Mailbox. Efficient staff and comfortable rooms.
“Nice hotel shame about location!”
Despite a shabby exterior the hotel is very clean, modern and well presented (inside). Staff were friendly and offered us a free breakfast when we arrived at our room (4pm) to find it hadn't been prepared for us. What lets it down is the continuous noise from the taxi rank outside. Continuous horns going off all night and I mean all night. Don't expect to sleep much if you stay here! Worst nights sleep in a hotel ever . . . .despite a very comfortaable bed and room.
“ideal for a short visit”
great location for bullring and centre, handy for me as i was visiting my son at university.everything within a short walking distance. good room, nice decor, didnt eat in hotel, went out to one of the many restuarants who do a good breakfast for cheaper than hotel
“Top place to stay in central Birmingham”
Lovely hotel room at excellent price. Very conveniently located. Top marks!
“Beware the Executive Rooms”
Here they do the absolute bare minimum they think they can get away with both in terms service (don’t expect a smile or manners like please thank-you sorry etc) or room comfort. Especially beware of paying for the extras of the executive rooms. They seem to be operating under the delusion that a lick of paint and a sign on the door of what previously was a bulk standard room means they can charge an extra £15 a night. Specifics two single beds pushed together does not constitute an extra large double bed, a tiny standard bathroom with a pathetic over bath shower is not executive. If you advertise robes and slippers then provide them. The lights in the closets are an executive touch but not if they don’t turn off so that you can’t sleep because the doors don’t seal. Aircon that actually works so the room is not freezing would be executive so would having your toilet paper and tissues replaced even once in five days. It might also be a good idea to employ reception staff who do not smoke so much that when you come to reception for assistance they are not outside smoking quiet so often. I guess you can see the gist of this some pride, attention to detail, professionalism and service would go a long way to improve a lack lustre experience masquerading as executive.
“Amazing location for shops and nightlife and the hotel itself was great too!”
The hotel was in a excellent location for shopping and nightlife. The hotel standards were great and all staff were extremely friendly. The modernness of the hotel was also excellent and the room size was perfect. Would definitely go back to the same hotel and would strongly recommend it.
“Reasonable Price, Good Hotel if you get a room away from the Noisy street below”
OK hotel, convienient. REALLY noisy outside at weekends. Staff not bothered about the noise. Food ordered for room service was average but service speedy. Would recommend this hotel but get a room at the back during the weekend or at least on a high floor
“Convenient and Comfortable”
It's conveniently located - handy for city and also Hippodrome. Can be noisy if facing the main roads and on lower floors. Some plumbing problems in one of the rooms I stayed - the sink was clogged - but I was there for a night.
“Birminghams GEM”
Holiday Inn Birmingham City Centre - Extremely satisfied with our stay at this hotel, i just wish i knew about this little gem sooner!!!! The hotel is REALLY nice inside, rooms are nice and big with appartment style feel. Bathroom nice, and bed really comfortable. Breakfast was enjoyable, very nice full english. Location is spot on :) This is next to the Radisson, and just as good as the higher classed label.
