"Great hotel, location and service!"
We could not have been more pleased with the Barclay Suites. We stayed there twice on our trip to New Zealand - three nights both times. The first suite was fabulous - 25th floor, corner room, view of the Sky Tower, the bay and ferries. Just beautiful. Our second room was on the 16th floor, not a corner room, not as great a view, but still a very nice suite. Nice living room and bedroom. While we weren't interested in cooking, it was nice to have the microwave, electric water heater, fridge, dishwasher, etc. There was even a combo washer/dryer. The fresh milk in the fridge every day was a nice touch. The shower needed some shelving on which to put our shampoo, conditioner, soap,. and a place to hang the washcloth for later use. It was a nice surprise that they gave us washcloths when some hotels in our travels have not. The hotel staff was extremely helpful, very pleasant, and went out of their way to make sure our needs were met. On the last day, both elevators went out. We had to walk down the 16 floors, but the staff had all been called in to carry the luggage. Those poor boys! I wonder how many times they went up and down those stairs before the elevators were fixed! They never complained...just kept smiling. Airie (I think that was his name) was a front desk clerk and the concierge. He cheerfully helped us find a church we could walk to for Easter Sunday services; made arrangements for the shuttle to the airport; and gave us walking directions to various restaurants.
