Good hotel close to fascinating Gracia area

Posted 19-May-2014
Pros: Close to Metro stations. Staff very helpful.
Hotel was clean and staff helpful. Close to the Gracia area of Barcelona, which we found fascinating. Relatively easy walk downtown, although two Metro stations are close also. Carrer Gran de Gracia is close by with good breakfast locations. This street and the Gracia area have lots of good restaurants, with those located off the main road providing good food at cheaper prices.

This hotel is well priced and close to the metro. Furnishings are very simple and only criticism is that there is no kettle.

Good budget option, water temp of shower varied a good bit, but otherwise a nice stay at a reasonable rate.

Great value for money

The rooms were very clean, very satisfied with that. I stayed in a single room. So it was small, but it had everything I needed. A bed, air con, safe, en suite bathroom with bath tub, a giant mirror, a desk and chair and a TV. The view from my window wasn't great, but that's to be expected from a budget hotel! A bad thing was they didn't provide toothpaste! I had to go out and buy some, you'd think a hotel room would provide that. The location of the hotel was excellent, not too far from the city, metro station 5mins away, 3 stations away from Placa de Catalunya. It was far enough from the city to not be too expensive, but close enough to be comfortable to travel to. The surrounding area had a few bars and restaurants, and the Av Diagonal was about 7min walk down the road away. All in all, very satisfied with the hotel. For what I paid, it was excellent. Staff were very nice too by the way!

Basic Accommodations for the Non-Fussy Visitor

Posted 07-Aug-2013
Pros: People pleasant; tho not in center of things, it was easy to reach major tourist and shopping sites. OK for a 2 nite visit
Cons: Better focus on helping visitors; complaints about ACs should be taken more seriously with good response at any hour. Replace old ACs w. modern units
Location: 10 min bus drive to Parc Gruel; Sagrada Familia & 3 other Gaudi cites in walking distance; easy Metro/bus/walking travel; Garcia Tourist Off a plus
Upon arrival, it looked like the hotel was in a residential area off the beaten path. But there's a Metro station across the street, 2 bus routes that pass the hotel, and it was a short 5 minute walk to a Barcelona Tourist office on Garcia and then a 20 to 30 minute walk to Plaza de Cantalunya with lots of shops and cafes and 3 Gaudi building sites along the way. But the hotel does not seem to cater well to tourist or business clients. They had only a street map to offer, an adequate breakfast but no other amenities. The AC in my room did not work and two calls to attend to it got only minimal response. My first call was at 2 am and I was told there was no one available to check it at that time. The 2nd day the maid tried to adjust it and it seemed it just needed more time to kick in. But that night, again after midnight, it was not working and it was doubtful I would get a response from the front desk to investigate, so I just took a cool shower and slept without even a top sheet. The temp was set to 19 deg Celsius but the thermostat registered btw 28 and 31 degrees. The room also smelled musty, with a hint of cigarettes lingering even tho I specified the need for a smoke free room
