Nice view but a little disappointing otherwise

Posted 14-Sep-2014
Pros: Definitely the view, the guys at the bar were nice and helpful
Cons: More water pressure on the upper floors, and the ladies at the desk never cracked a smile, everything seemed like a bit of a nuisance to them.
Location: Upper part of town, be prepared to walk 20 minutes to downtown or take 500 stairs to the beach, for us the view and quiet was worth it.
We booked the Conca D'oro a month out from our arrival and wound up paying a premium for a premium room... water view, etc. We didn't mind the stairs, or even the distance from town, however if you get a room on the 5th floor BE PREPARED FOR ZERO WATER PRESSURE. Spending that much for a room should not result it trying to shower to a trickle which we did despite several complaints- clearly there was nothing they could do about it.

NIce hotel but too far from the center of town.

Posted 08-Jul-2014
Pros: The service was good and the hotel was kept very clean.
Cons: The breakfast buffet was very limited. No fridge in the room and more counter space in the bathroom.
Location: Not a lot until you reach the bottom of the road where there are some restaurants and a few shops/
The hotel and staff were pleasant and the room was very clean, but it is located too far from the center of town. I counted, it was 125 steps to reach the reception and that comes after walking up hill for 10 minutes from the center of town. It is exhausting and not recommended for families with young children or people out of shape. I also found the bathroom to be very small with no counter space. The view with the balcony was lovely, but it was tiny and doesn't get sun during the day. The terrace with the pool was more like a jacuzzi with cold water.

Conca d'Oro

Posted 13-Jun-2014 on Hotels.com
Pros: Beautiful hotel with a fantastic staff. Very clean and the views are awesome. Breakfast is a buffet style and a good assortment of food and drinks. Staff was always friendly and willing to help with arranging excursions and dinner recommendations, etc. Cons: the bathtub shower head was loose and therefore sprayed water all over the floor. The air conditioner turns off when you open the windows so you can't enjoy the sea breeze while also enjoying a background of cool air. Minor things, really. Be prepared for lots and lots of stairs! We counted more than 300 stairs from the hotel to the beach.

Elegant Hotel at the Top of Many Steps

Posted 31-Mar-2014
Pros: The view from the room is amazing. The hotel is a historic structure that has been well maintained.
Cons: There are a bunch of steps up to this hotel. If you are bringing a bunch of luggage, keep this in mind. You'll want to call ahead for a porter.
Location: Positano is absolutely beautiful. There is a few restaurants nearby. However, not easy walking access to all of town.
The staff was okay. Not especially friendly, but not the worst either. Breakfast had a good selection. The room was clean and well kept.

Fantastic hotel

Posted 19-Oct-2013
Pros: Staff were great, location of hotel and views over Positano
Cons: There are sooo many steps! Although that adds to the charm of the place and helps ensure you get exercise!
What a fantastic experience! Before we arrived, staff were helpful in organising a car from Naples to Positano - which was great given it was raining. When we arrived, they were welcoming and this continued for the whole stay. I loved this hotel. We had a great room (triple, with double and single bed) opening onto the terrace overlooking the ocean. The dining room and restaurant/bar also have amazing views of the sea - the pictures on the website are accurate. The room and bathroom were spacious and clean. I also really enjoyed the comfort of other little services the hotel provided - restaurant on site, things charged to your room, laundry services and ironing etc. They also had a spa with beauty treatments available. Staff were excellent - could not fault them at all. Always helpful and willing to answer questions. Overall, a very relaxing and excellent stay in Positano - which is amazingly beautiful. Would definitely be back and would recommend.

Spectacular views

Hotel has imposing views across the bay and of Positano itself. The room we had was basic and clean. The breakfast was fine but there is a surcharge for eggs. No mention is made in the information of the 107 step winding climb to the hotel which may be important to the less able. A porter is provided but I wouldn't want to manage cases up to the hotel. Also the car parking is expensive but at a rate which seems to be standard in the area. And you might like to know that the spa tub is not heated.

Nice Hotel & excellent staff & service

Posted 29-Sep-2013
Pros: location and comfort of rooms
Cons: Breakfast Menu- more choice and fresher
Location: Central to car park and all local buses and taxi's
Lovely location. Shame about all the steps to climb to reach Hotel. Staff very helpful with carrying luggage, but still you need to be very fit ! Room and terrace very nice for lunch and dinner. Only drawback, Breakfast, just a stale crossaint and a little fruit, nothing else

Good hotel - Location ok, poor front desk staff!

Posted 25-Aug-2013
The hotel was in a fantastic location in terms of providing beautiful views over Positano! It was a little far from the main beach so be prepared for the 20min walk into town. The views do make up for that though. There are a lot of stairs so if you are not fit and able for the walk then do not stay here. Front desk staff were very unhelpful and at times plain rude. Be prepared to do your own research and bookings as they offer very little help. All other staff were lovely.

Beautifull room view of Positano

Posted 29-Jul-2013
Pros: The view
Location: Lots of small shops, restaurants and the beach in the Amalfi coast.
Very nice boutique hotel not far from the main road wich is good since we did not have to go up many steps. The hotel has a person that will take your bags up the steps wich is very convenient. upon our arrival one of the rooms we booked did not have separate beds but the staff quickly gave us a larger room with the beds we needed and patio at no extra charge. The view from the dinning area in the second floor and jacuzi at the top flor is an amazing and beautifull view of Positano and the included breakfast was good. The only drawback is the long walk to the beach down hill from the hotel but you can catch a bus that will take you there from the main road near the hotel or you can walk down while looking at the nice small shops and breath taking view along the way.
