(1,002 reviews) The front desk staff were so amazing. Super friendly and accommodating. I am a lifetime platinum at marriott so i normally only stay at marriott. Chamonix didnt have a marriott so stayed here. Staff more professional than any other marriots in france and even better upgrades than any other marriotts. It was a one day sty, wish i stayed longer. Shout out to Daniela, and all staff for being super friendly. (103 reviews) We had a lovely stay in the 2 bedroom apartment on the top floor of the residence. We picked a Mountain View and it was a stunning view over the mountains! The sofa bed in the apartment was very large and comfortable and so were the beds. Very bijou kitchen but was fine if not cooking much. Could have benefited from an oven. Had a Spar supermarket below but limited choice and quite expensive. Could have helped if the residence had its own bar and restaurant. Not sure it felt like a five star rated hotel. The area itself in April wasn’t brilliant for ski in ski out but I expect much better in peak season. We managed to ski out but not back as this lift was closed. The free shuttle bus was on time but was absolutely crammed full of people, even to the point you couldn’t get on when returning from the slopes to the hotel. A good 10-15 min walk into the main area of Flaine. We found it to be a little disappointing for places to eat or bars to have a drink. We ended up at the Rockypop hotel every evening for a drink. Not great for Apre ski if that is what you are after Or gourmet dining. Very limited choice. (132 reviews) It’s not five star in terms of luxury but it is a comfortable place to ski from. It’s on the edge of the village with one green slope right by the door but otherwise you have to walk with your skis up to the chairlifts which takes about 8-10 minutes. There are ski rental shops and restaurants right on the doorstep. The main village hub is a 5-10 minute walk away, up a hill. The beds are comfortable. The apartment has everything you need. It’s quiet and well set up. The pool isn’t that warm and the spa areas could be cleaner. It’s not five star, more 3-4 star. (249 reviews) We can't say enough about the Grand Hotel Des Alpes. Centrally located in town, so made it easy to visit local shops and phenomenal restaurants (e.g. Atmosphere, Rose de Pont and Matafan, all highly recommended). Skiing to each of the 4 resorts was made easy through the hotels shuttle service. Picks you up at the hotel and drops you off at the slopes. Then returns you. Both to and from are on a schedule you decide. Staff was amazing. Little positives like sweets in the early afternoon and savory snacks in the late afternoon were a very nice surprise.
