9.2/10 Wonderful! (1,001 reviews)
My husband and I stayed in G Hotel Kelawai for a total of 3 nights in the Premier Room, and we had a good experience overall. The staff were fantastic, and our gripes were to do with design features in the hotel which the service staff had little to no control over.
Pros:
- The room was very clean, and overall cleanliness in the public areas was great as well
- The bathroom in the Premier Room was spacious and comfortable
- Although we only had 2 canned drinks from the complimentary minibar, the free bottled water and anything complimentary is always appreciated.
- The buffet breakfast selection on Level 2 was pretty good, covering western and Asian cuisines, as well as having a live station. Food options also changed from day to day.
- Gravity, the rooftop bar, was great. Loved the light-up menus!
Cons:
- Whilst the curtains are of block-out fabric, there is a huge gap between the curtain and the frame of the window, so sunlight would stream into the room like a laser beam every morning and wake us up much earlier than we wanted to
- The mattress was comfortable, but the pillows were not. It took requests for 3 different types of pillows to finally land on a marginally acceptable one. (But Priya from Reservations was very nice about it)
- We had the corner room but the walls were quite thin so we kept hearing the door slamming in the room next to ours.
- For such a big bathroom, it would have been much better and more convenient to have double sinks, a

9.6/10 Exceptional! (352 reviews)
When we arrived at Ambong - we were completely lost for words, the view, the attention to detail and the overall warmth and service from the team were better than 10/10. We’ve stayed all over LANGKAWI across different 5* hotels and Ambong wins hands down for the service and cleanliness of the rooms.
In particular, we want to thank Nizal and Shaffy for coming to drive us up to our room and always with a smile!
The breakfast and restaurant are amazing. Great quality and extensive! We had the meat breakfast at Rimba (Ambong Pool Villas restaurant) which has incredible views over the water and is perfect for sunset dinner and drinks but also really loved the vegan breakfast at the rainforest restaurant … maybe even MORE! (Thank you Nizal for the recommendation).
The dusky monkeys are such a wonderful treat, waking up and watching them from our bedroom window was so special.
The room was always made up perfectly, and their turndown service was really appreciated as they made the room perfect to retreat to after a long day of exploring the island.
A few practical bits to note - the pool area is quite shaded due to the rainforest around which is perfect in the heat, but it could have been spruced up a little in the morning.
The room was very high up into the mountain which was perfect for the views, but it does mean you must rely on their shuttle service - although we enjoyed a few walks up and down for our health!

9.6/10 Exceptional! (1,001 reviews)
We have just returned from a wonderful stay at The Danna.
From the moment we arrived, every member of staff made us feel incredibly welcome. From the porters, concierges & reception team to housekeeping, the F&B staff & the Resort Manager, everyone was professional, warm & cheerful, & nothing ever seemed too much trouble.
Remarkably staff appeared to know which room we were staying in, how long we had been there & even how much time remained of our holiday. We were made to feel very special, something we saw being extended to all guests throughout our stay. We're not usually ones for any fuss, but all the thoughtful touches were delivered so discreetly and naturally that it simply enhanced the experience.
Our room (419), a Grand Marina View room, was exceptionally spacious & comfortable, with a king-size bed, armchairs, dressing table, two wardrobes, plenty of storage, a large balcony & a large bathroom with a bathtub, walk-in rain shower & double sinks.
We also appreciated the daily replenishment of filtered water, Nespresso pods & TWG tea bags, along with delicious gluten-free sweet treats to accommodate a dietary requirement.
Housekeeping was outstanding throughout (with special thanks to Karmila, Fatin & Amim for their excellent service).
The restaurants were all superb & catered for allergens very well; staff awareness & knowledge of ingredients made us feel confident we were in safe hands. Special thanks to Hakimi, Ilah, Fatihah, the Chefs & all the F&B team.
