Quite a few buildings on the property are under construction. If you are located near the main entrance it’s pretty far to the beach and you have to walk through the construction area to get to the beach. Only one place to get a bite to eat while the restaurants are closed and it’s usually packed by people so I’ve stood in a line to get some food for 15/20 minutes both times I went there. The beach even being covered with wave breaks had a lot of seaweed, and even know it was getting cleaned it was still pretty weedy. The building I was staying at, had stairs breaking down and white peaces of concrete coming off the top over head. The only things that I liked was buffet restaurant that had a good variety of food, and staff that was really friendly. And by the way you can’t get a bottle of water anywhere unless it’s your room or the store.

The property was fine, but not what I was expecting. First, I booked this hotel for the garden suite based on the pics of a secluded garden hot tub and private lounging area. The pictures were not an accurate representation of the space AT ALL. There is no privacy or secluded area. The hot tub was very much in the open for all other guests or staff to see, so we never even the space. When we got to the room I called downstairs to ask why it looked nothing like the pictures and was told “we don’t control what pictures Expedia uses.”
The room was ok. The bed wasn’t great, pillows were awful and towels were scratchy. The thermostat in the room never dropped below 22 C (71.6 F), no matter how low we set it. Most times the temp was between 22.5-23.5 C (72.5-74.3F). It legitimately took 10 minutes for the shower to come to temp. None of this was terrible, but it’s also not “luxury.”
The service at the hotel was NOT what I’ve come to expect from travel in Mexico. I return to Mexico again and again for the genuine warmth and hospitality of the people. While several of the staff members were very nice, there was a general apathy and even curtness among many members, especially front desk. Several times I asked about amenities or logistics and was either given the wrong info or flat out told “I don’t know” with no attempt to find out.
The property is beautiful, quiet, & safe. Pools are stunning. Food was fine. Overall it was fine but I won’t stay there again.

The resort is truly one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever stayed in Tulum. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was relaxing and completely stress-free. Their kindness, warmth, and professionalism made a lasting impression on me. Every interaction was filled with genuine smiles and a willingness to help—no request ever felt like too much.
This experience opened my eyes to what a real vacation should feel like. It was peaceful, rejuvenating, and full of joyful moments. Because of this unforgettable trip, I’ve already decided to return next June—with my kids this time—so they can experience this slice of paradise too.
A huge thank you to the amazing staff for turning this into my dream vacation. Your honesty, hospitality, and dedication do not go unnoticed. You’ve earned a lifelong guest.

We absolutely love ABR! Our family has been visiting this resort for the past 15 years, and it continues to be a special place for us. Each year, we notice thoughtful updates and improvements, all while maintaining the natural beauty of the grounds, which blend seamlessly with the surroundings. Everything is always impeccably clean, and the staff is consistently kind, polite, and attentive.
We especially enjoy the 8 AM yoga sessions, daily beach volleyball, and the wide variety of delicious food and drinks. While the evening entertainment could use some improvement—most nights the bands don't quite energize the crowd—there’s always a great atmosphere in the main palapa after dinner. Sundays are a highlight, with a fantastic Salsa/Cumbia band that gets everyone on the dance floor!
During our recent stay, the sargassum issue affected the beaches, which was unfortunate but beyond anyone’s control. Akumal Bay is typically home to some of the most stunning beaches and snorkeling we’ve ever experienced.
Overall, we love this resort for its welcoming, international vibe and outstanding customer service. We look forward to returning again!

Very nice resort food was great, restaurants are all 5 stars. Entertainment team was great always friendly and happy staff. The pool side shows and theater shows were great. Mine and Girlfriend favorite show was the Frita calo show and the voice Akumal. Fernando our concierge was informative & pleasant. Fernando from the restaurant himitsu was an amazing server & gave good recommendations. & Antonio from the pool staff was awesome and always helping us out with whatever we need and always remembered my last name whenever he saw me around the resort.
