Resort food was good, but got tired of eating the same thing over and over. This resort did not charge my kids to go to the executive lounge, it was included in the room rates. Some other resorts only gave two passes to the lounge, so call and make sure, so you dont have surprises when checking in. Recommend the executive suites, nice perk to have and you are on the higher floor as well. Grand Mercure Beppu Bay Resort & Spa"Drinks and nibbles offered twice a day which was lovely after the heat of the day. Pool was a lovely addition and great to cool off. Very clean. Room was large although felt very dated. No headboards, lots of dirty marks on desk and lamps and the windows were celotaped to stop noise from pool. Onsen was good. Bathroom was extremely old fashioned and had to step up into it from bedroom. Shuttle to train station was really appreciated and used it twice. Air con in the room was very poor...
