It lies approximately 10 miles north of Kamakura and about 18 miles southwest of Tokyo, the national capital.

Give the kids a break from sightseeing and enjoy some quality time at Yokohama Cosmo World and Hakkeijima Sea Paradise. For even more fun, head on to the Anpanman Museum and Yomiuriland.

Get ready for an incredible zoological adventure at the Nogeyama Zoo or the Zoorasia Yokohama Zoological Gardens. For more hot and cold-blooded fun, see about any learning opportunities and zookeeper talks at the Makigahara Children's Zoo and the Kanazawa Zoo.

Are you known to love a beer or two? If so, make time to visit the Kirin Beer Village, a very educational place to spend an afternoon. Discover how each beer is made, and afterwards, make sure you put your new knowledge to good use by sampling the final product!

Interested in learning about some of the local plant species? Visit the Sankei-en Park or the Samuel Cocking Garden. Many tourists also enjoy having a look around the Ikuta Ryokuchi Rose Garden and the Yokohama English Garden.

On a fine day, pick up some lunch and find a shady nook at one of the scenic urban parks, such as Yamashita Park or Kishine Park. There's also plenty of space to relax at Mitsuike Park and Nagahama Park.

With stacks of brochures and maps at the ready, Tourist Information Center at Sangyo Boeki Center is the place to discover what's happening in Yokohama.

Grab a friend and explore some of the many cultural spaces in the area. The Shinyokohama Raumen Museum and the Cupnoodles Museum offer a range of collections that are sure to capture your interest. The Kamakura Museum of Literature and the Yokohama Streetcar Museum are also worth considering.

Maritime museums are essential to the restoration and preservation of nautical artifacts and the recounting of the world's most influential marine events. Discover what remains of this region's seafaring history at the Yokohama Port Museum, the NYK Maritime Museum and the Japan Coast Guard Museum.

The Mitsubishi Minatomirai Industrial Museum, the Toshiba Science Museum and the Earth Science Museum are perfect places for those who like learning about the history of science. The wonderful range of inventions and other gadgets on show at these science-focused museums will keep curious minds enraptured all afternoon.

A haven for art lovers, this area houses various gallery spaces in which artists and designers regularly showcase their wares. Pay a visit to the Yokohama Museum of Art and the Kanagawa Prefectural Kanazawa Bunko Museum to see the best of what this creative enclave has to offer. Afterwards, if you still have some energy left, finish up your afternoon at the Kamakura Museum of National Treasures and the Museum of Modern Art, Kamakura and Hayama.

Go back through time and uncover mysteries of the past at the Museum of Japanese Houses and the Yokohama Archives of History. Do you like the sound of those? Continue your journey at the Yokohama History Museum or the Hasseiden Museum.

The Red Brick Warehouse and the Nihon Minka-En are certainly worth paying a visit to, even if you're not that into history. When it comes to bygone times, there's always something else to know. The Open-Air Folk House Museum and Kaiko Takeshi Memorial Hall are two more insightful places to check out.

Whether you're spiritual or not, you'll be sure to enjoy a visit to the Kawasaki Daishi and Wakamiya Hachiman-gu Shrine. You may also like to explore Sacred Heart Cathedral or the Sojiji Temple.

Before you pack your suitcase and head off home, be sure to stop at some of the lesser-known attractions here. A couple of interesting places to start off with are Snova Mizonokuchi and Snova Shinyokohama. Also, contemplate checking out the Hikawa Maru and the Kamakura City Library if you can squeeze it in.
