"This was an excellent and comfortable option in the heart of Colchester. The room benefited from air con on such a hot weekend and we were in a quiet part of the hotel. Breakfast was cooked to order - my other half would have liked a fresh fruit salad (a basked of fruit was provided, to be fair). Unfortunately the WiFi was patchy throughout the building, not just in our room. If I’d had to do work it would have been impossible. We certainly couldn’t have watched a film online. If this could be sorted I’d say the hotel was worth 5 stars."

The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was clean and all the other bits that could be needed for our stay were provided. "Having stayed on one of hottest days of year the air conditioning in bedrooms was extremely welcome and efficient. I thought uk king size beds would be standard in hotels. Not used to a double bed but it was clean and comfortable. Bathroom spotless but struggled to access the shower over bath as you had to step in onto slope at end of bath. If you have even a minor disability then try to get an accessible room.. The pool was a good size and well maintained as was gym. Good sized pool towels. Breakfast varied and plentiful and staff friendly and helpful. Expensive parking. Would have been good if discounted for hotel guests. However these were personal niggles and it was a good value hotel and we would not hesitate to stay again."
