Disliked: Staff & service
The Palms Hotel was a reasonable stay, 3 days in length staying there, good prices and decent quality food.
A few reasons to why my stay was underwhelming is because I have rashes and bites from sleeping in bed. Every time I went to the restaurant to eat there was no one there to serve me at the bar. Each day I returned back to my room I was locked out and had to reset my keycard.
It’s a shame as the hotel has good potential but is failing in certain areas.
Hottest day of year so the air conditioned room was welcoming, room was spacious and comfortable, but did show some areas of wear. No coffee in the room. Breakfast expensive to opted for nearby McDonald’s instead. But overall a very pleasant stay.

The staff were kind at the beginning and let us store our luggage before check in. However when we were leaving we asked the bar to fill up our water bottles and he gave us attitude and said to come back in 20 minutes. NO AC, the room was hot but staff did give us a fan upon request. When I moved the trash can in the restroom there was someone’s urine on the bottom of it and it got all over the bathroom floor.
The rooms were fairly clean, not as well presented as the former and restraint, which were lovely.
The food in the restaurant was lovely and the barman/waiter was great at his job.
The bedrooms were very hot, I kept a fan going at all times, provided at reception on request.
The property is a bit out the way and I had to walk 20 minutes to the nearest pub to be able to do my work one afternoon. Working WiFi is a bit of an essential in the modern world, especially as my phone only had satellite reception!
Still trying to understand how it is a ‘resort’ as no other facilities.
I would go back for food but not to stay over
Nicely appointed room and entrance area. Handy location with good access to the motorway network. Would stay here again. Large car park to the front of the premises.
Ideal location for what we wanted. Lovely clean hotel, recently renovated. Had just reopened when we visited, so a few teething issues, ran out of a lot of drinks, not enough breakfasts for people that had reserved a breakfast. Hotel was sold out due to Chelmsford part in the park. Overall lovely stay, some nice restaurants and bars, cafes close by.
The young lady on front desk was amazing she was helpful and professional the rooms a clean.over all amazing stay and a big thanks to the two cleaners they was brilliant.I will definitely recommend this hotels
