"So checkin staff was great, but rooms were so tired, and whole place was dark and miserable. Parking was basically in the service station, which did not feel at all secure. Again, staff were great and helpful."

When they say that parking is limited they are not wrong but it is also quite difficult to get into with a slightly bigger cast - especially for Australians already struggling with the parking in the UK 🙂. However we were lucky to find parking near the offsite room. Hotel itself is lovely and the dinner and breakfast very good. Staff were excellent."

"Appleby Castle is a special destination, steeped in history that you can experience first hand. Staff care deeply about the castle and we thoroughly enjoyed the piano playing during the meal and the history talk after. Having read some of the other reviews, we can’t say we experienced any of the negatives and thought Peter, Sally (and chef!) did a great job it being just them running the castle."

"The staff were very friendly, welcoming and efficient. The food was very good. The hotel is very comfortable, well furnished and very quiet being a little remote. No outside noise and very little noise inside the hotel even with coach parties staying over. Looking forward to my next visit."
