I don't normally use superlatives but for this place I am prepared to make an exception. We stayed for two nights and from start to finish it was an excellent experience. The welcome was warm. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The place was spotless - both the room and the common areas. The food was superb, the menu creative and the table service friendly and timely without being intrusive. Portion size was good too. I came to Cirencester with a friend to do some Christmas shopping and The Old Brewhouse was the perfect location for our purposes. Rosemary was friendly and helpful; the accommodation was very clean and beautifully decorated and the breakfast was delicious! We would love to come again.

Love this place. The village is beautiful and full of Cotswolds charm, whilst the pub is an absolute delight for foodies. Tremendous value given the quality of the accommodation and the food. Our room was luxurious and spacious. Loved the 100 Acres toiletries, the farmhouse-style breakfast and the super-comfortable bed. This is a great base from which to explore the Cotswolds.

We loved staying at De Vere in Cotswolds, it was very family friendly. The room was spacious and surroundings were beautiful and calm. I specifically liked the healthy choice of breakfast.
For use of swimming pool, you have to pay £10/ per person and book a lot for 60mins, but it was worth it, not too busy and there were children but not chaotic at all.
We definitely would like to come back!

We had a fantastic time at the Lords of the Manor, it really is an exceptional hotel. A very relaxed atmosphere and the staff make you feel at home as soon as you walk in. They were especially accommodating with our dog who stayed with us. The hotel gardens are huge and we’re a lot bigger than we thought, stretching down to the river. It’s a great place to explore the Cotswolds.

Had complimentary upgrade to 'Wisdom' garden room - it was absolutely delightful. Great breakfast each day. Ate from the Bar menu on one evening which was delicious! Very high calibre of staff and nothing was too much trouble! 2 minute walk to main High Street with nice quirky shops to nose around.

The best area to stay in Winson is the town centre, particularly around Market Square and the streets leading off it.
This central area is the heart of Winson, offering a convenient base for exploring. It's very walkable, with a mix of historic buildings and modern amenities. You'll find a good selection of independent shops, traditional pubs, and restaurants along High Street and Church Street, all within easy reach of the Market Square, which often hosts local events.
For couples looking for a relaxed yet engaging break, staying in the town centre is ideal. You'll be steps away from Winson Abbey, a significant historical landmark, and can enjoy leisurely strolls along the River Winson, which is just a short walk from the main square. The evening offers a variety of dining options, from cosy bistros to more upscale establishments.
Families will also find the town centre convenient. Many hotels here are well-equipped with family rooms, and you're close to amenities like the local park with its playground.
When is the best time to go to Winson?
The best time to visit Winson is typically during the spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) months, when the weather is pleasant and the countryside is at its most picturesque.
For those looking to explore the rolling hills and charming villages, spring offers blooming wildflowers and milder temperatures, superb for walking and outdoor activities. You'll find the footpaths and trails around areas like the Cotswold Way less crowded than in the peak summer season.
Couples often find autumn particularly appealing. The changing colours of the leaves create a stunning backdrop for romantic strolls through the Winson Estate grounds or along the River Coln. The local pubs are especially welcoming during these cooler months, offering cosy firesides and traditional English fare.
