"Beautiful cottage in a picturesque setting"
This is a beautiful cottage, set in a picturesque hamlet with a pub located over the road. It's in a quiet setting but conveniently placed for visits to Stonehenge or Salisbury, both of which are nearby and easily accessible by car. The cottage itself is lovely and it came with a well stocked kitchen. The only minor flaw that I had was it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned before my stay (I came across quite a bit of dust) but other than that I couldn't fault it & I would certainly stay here again.

"Beautiful grounds. Pleasant walk to Cathedral."
A large clean room. Good location. OK breakfast. Few staff about but they all worked very hard. Restaurant expensive but we walked out and found a very good one 5 minutes away.

"One night at Widbrook Grange"
We stayed at Widbrook Grange as we were planning on spending the day in Bath. Upon our arrival, we were guided to our room and given a brief tour of the b & b. There was a pool and gym, which we unfortunately did not have time to try. Parking was free and we found delicious freshly baked cookies.in our room. I requested a room for a family of four and we got exactly that. The beds were very comfortable. The room came with a tablet which described the area and information on restaurants/things to do, which was very helpful. We had supper at the Dockside restaurant, which was a brief 5 minute walk away, also owned by the b and b. For breakfast, we had a choice of a variety of hot meals, and everything that was prepared for us was delicious and the portions were generous. It would have been nice to stay a few more days as the setting is in the countryside and very relaxing. Bath was a short 10 min drive away.

"Amazing breakfast!"
I was a late booker for a bank holiday weekend night so ended up in a single room, which I really dreaded but turned out to be a very comfortable night's sleep. The room was absolutely fine but the walls are thin and I could hear the chap next door, snoring and using the bathroom! The best bit about this hotel is the breakfast, it was the tastiest I'd had in a whole month of staying in B&Bs. I ordered a fruit platter, which was stunningly presented and scrambled eggs and mushrooms, both really delicious. I couldn't get a table to eat dinner in their restaurant until after 9pm (the night before) so went elsewhere and wished I had waited when I saw their vegetarian menu options!

"Nice quaint B and B"
We booked for one night, lovely place, nice little outside area . ( I didn't like the plastic flowers in the window boxes) Room was lovely but very small bathroom area. The pillows and duvet were super comfy. Hairdryer was a proper one and not one of these travel things and loved the small sewing kit provided! we stayed in room 3 which was above the entrance to the bar on the main road. so if you wanted an early night, I believe this could have been quite noisy. We actually didn't stay the night as we left at 1am to drive back home for personal reasons. so I am unable to comment on the continental breakfast.

"Convenient for Cathedral and city centre."
Within easy walk for Cathedral and City centre. Traffic right outside our window. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room quirky, bathroom antiquated. Bath with shower over. Use of curtain. No elbow room on toilet.

"Full of Character"
We stayed for 3 nights recently, to take in some of the local walks around Longleat, Chedder and surrounds. We arrived very late on the Friday and were met at the door by the owners who showed us up to our room straight away. I popped back down for a beer and felt at home straight away, the locals didn't bother us and carried on with their conversations. The rooms was clean and tidy, the bathroom decent, with a rain shower which I loved... the wife not so much but its a personal opinion :-). The ONLY issue we had with the room was... the bed! Guys, I love a hard bed but this was like rock hard. In itself not the end of the world but throw in a couple of breeze blocks for pillows and its a struggle! Get a few new pillows and the room would be perfect! The following morning came the pièce de résistance of The Somerset Arms... the full English Breakfast! Even if you dont like them, even if you're a Vegetarian, I implore you to eat this breakfast! It is awesome, with farm fresh quality throughout! The meal that evening was equally amazing! Steak and Ale puddings with a beautiful cheese board for afters. Lovely food! Overall, for us: Food, Service, and Peace & Quiet reign at the Somerset Arms. Would highly recommend to all.

"easy to find hotel, "
easy to find, once you have discover it is located a bit far from Marlborough itself. A seat (chair?) would be appreciated in the room, so that to be able to read and write on the table, and not on your knees... Evening meal of real quality, and pleasant approach from the ladies serving at the tables. The surronding pub atmosphere and noise of the drinkers in the same place is inevitable, we suppose ! But a place to return, for sure

Pocket Guide: Family Friendly Hotels in Wiltshire

With no shortage of open space and a wide variety of exciting tourist attractions, the southern county of Wiltshire is a real hit with holidaying families. It's not only the long list of family friendly attractions that lures in so many visitors to Wiltshire, however. The array of family-friendly hotels in Wiltshire is also a contributing factor. From sprawling country estates to city centre hotels, there's something to suit all tastes in this glorious county.

    Oodles of Outside Space

The wealth of outside space is one of Wiltshire's major attractions. From rolling hills to enchanting woodlands, the county's countryside has it all. However, parents of lively kids will know that space outside the hotel isn't always enough to tire them out. Equally important is that the hotel offers a roomy garden.

For guests seeking a big outdoor area, it doesn't get much better than The Shaw Country Hotel. This intimate, independent hotel in Melksham is set in a beautiful garden with a large lawn, ideal for tiring out the kids just before bedtime!

    Childcare Facilities

Travelling with youngsters is always magical, but it can also be a little bit 'full on'! When the time comes for the parents to seek a little peace and quiet, help with looking after the kids can be invaluable. The good news is that a number of family-friendly hotels in Wiltshire provide childcare services for a small fee. Grasmere House Hotel, on the edge of Salisbury, offers precisely that, giving mum and dad time to sneak off for a romantic meal in the town centre.

    Infant Beds

Depending on the age of your kids and their sleeping habits, it's not always ideal to have them sleep in a regular bed. Some families are also keen to share a room, which often calls for special arrangements to be made. In cases like these, family-friendly hotels will typically offer infant beds for youngsters. Hotels like Widbrook Grange also offer cribs for particularly young guests.

    Games Rooms

Even after a fun day checking out the local attractions, some kids seek entertainment right the way up to bedtime. If this sounds like the little ones in your family, keep your eyes peeled for hotels which provide games rooms or arcades for kids.
