We stayed here for 2 nights in a family room which was lovely. The breakfast was nice if not a little slow with the service. We stayed for dinner in the restaurant on the first night but the childrens food was massively overpriced: £11.50 for a bowl of tomato pasta. Although the children did say ...
Friendly greeting upon arrival. Pretty close to town with heaps of parking. Dinner was fantastic and presented very well. Overall a great one night stay, wish we were hear for longer.
Great location and atmosphere. Rooms large, airy and quiet. Restaurant serves good evening meals and the breakfast is good but is an additional cost. All in all a good base for Longleat and surrounding attractions.
Really lovely place to stay. Unfortunately we only got to stay for one night but was well worth it for the price. With breakfast included as well! Food and drink is excellent with very lovely staff and a great selection of local ciders and ales along with the more typical larger and beers available ...
With no shortage of open space and a wide variety of exciting tourist attractions, the southern county of Wiltshire is a real hit with holidaying families. It's not only the long list of family friendly attractions that lures in so many visitors to Wiltshire, however. The array of family-friendly hotels in Wiltshire is also a contributing factor. From sprawling country estates to city centre hotels, there's something to suit all tastes in this glorious county.
The wealth of outside space is one of Wiltshire's major attractions. From rolling hills to enchanting woodlands, the county's countryside has it all. However, parents of lively kids will know that space outside the hotel isn't always enough to tire them out. Equally important is that the hotel offers a roomy garden.
For guests seeking a big outdoor area, it doesn't get much better than The Shaw Country Hotel. This intimate, independent hotel in Melksham is set in a beautiful garden with a large lawn, ideal for tiring out the kids just before bedtime!
Travelling with youngsters is always magical, but it can also be a little bit 'full on'! When the time comes for the parents to seek a little peace and quiet, help with looking after the kids can be invaluable. The good news is that a number of family-friendly hotels in Wiltshire provide childcare services for a small fee. Grasmere House Hotel, on the edge of Salisbury, offers precisely that, giving mum and dad time to sneak off for a romantic meal in the town centre.
Depending on the age of your kids and their sleeping habits, it's not always ideal to have them sleep in a regular bed. Some families are also keen to share a room, which often calls for special arrangements to be made. In cases like these, family-friendly hotels will typically offer infant beds for youngsters. Hotels like Widbrook Grange also offer cribs for particularly young guests.
Even after a fun day checking out the local attractions, some kids seek entertainment right the way up to bedtime. If this sounds like the little ones in your family, keep your eyes peeled for hotels which provide games rooms or arcades for kids.
