Wellington offers plenty for visitors to do and see. Concerts, plays, and comedy shows are on tap every night of the week. Those interested in the history of New Zealand, should stop by Te Para—the most visited museum in Australasia—which showcases New Zealand’s history, people, and art. Another box that every traveller must check is a ride on the iconic Wellington Cable Car. This meticulously restored car takes visitors from downtown Wellington to the Botanic Garden, where they can enjoy amazing views of the harbour and city.
Other excellent experiences to add to your travel list are visiting the Wellington Zoo, kayaking through the harbour, catching a glimpse of a kiwi at the Zealandia Sanctuary, and strolling through “Wellywood” which houses many of the post-production and special effects studios that brought movies like “The Hobbit” and “Avatar” to life.
When it’s time to relax, drop by one of the city’s many artsy cafes and breathe in the smell of freshly roasted coffee. The city is also known for its regional wines, acclaimed cultural cuisine, and excellent seafood. Your taste buds won’t want to leave.

Due to the airport’s short runways, passengers traveling from further distances will likely have to take a connecting flight into the city. Wellington is also serviced by regular buses and a rail system. Ferries connect the city to Esatbourne, Seatoun, and Petone.
