First off, let me say, we enjoyed the stay. This review is a little different because of a situation that was outside of the control of the property owner/manager. But I want to give honest feedback to help them in the future.
I'm a seasoned BNB of the Air variety and this was my first VRBO experience. I've seen a lot of different things, just so you know that I understand things happen.
I booked the VRBO the day before I was planning on going. I waited for an email for some time to confirm the check in process, but I didn't get one. So I'm not sure if that's a VRBO thing or an owner thing. I left 2 messages on the VRBO booking details and didn't receive any response that day. Tom did respond the following day to tell me if I needed anything to call a number. That was actually while I was on my way down and I had previosly programmed the number (his from the VRBO site, into my phone), so I called that number and Tom was a little surprised I think. It was different than the property managers number after I went back and looked at it. I said I hadn't received any information about check in and he said... "Oh! Here is the combination for the key box."
So, no big deal, we got there and got in and the property is a nice location and a nice property. We were met with a note, it may have been from the cleaning people or it may have been the previous tenants... it said the electricity was out since 8 AM and that the dishes were in the dishwasher and the toilets couldn't be cleaned. Sounds reasonable enough right?
The part that was a let down is that none of the beds had been cleaned or the linens changed. We were there about 10 minutes and the electricity came on. We called the property manager and she was a little flustered by the situation. I think she may have been in the dark about what was going on and probably depends on their cleaning service to relay information.
I asked if the cleaning crew could come and clean, she said she'd call back. The crew couldn't come until the next day. She told us where the key to the basement room was that had the linens (It was actually already opened) and we changed the linens in the master bedroom and did some cleaning in there and the kitchen including the dishes.
I called the property manager and cancelled the crew. We made the best of it. The cleaners could have done what we did without power. (Shortening - word limit) The actual house is great. Hot tub is great. Recommend.
