The central location and coastal setting provide a pleasant balance of metropolitan atmosphere and laid-back New England charm.

Warwick is a big city with small-town values. Bordered by 39 miles (63 kilometres) of coastline and multiple marinas, it provides easy access to Narragansett Bay for swimming, kayaking and sailing.

In addition to a saltwater beach, Warwick City Park offers numerous biking and walking trails. Goddard Memorial State Park is known for its antique carousel and nine-hole golf course. During the summer visit Goddard Park Beach for concerts and other outdoor events.

Downtown Warwick is filled with shops, galleries, restaurants and bars. Warwick Museum of Art showcases regional artists and performers.

Journey back in time at Clouds Hill Victorian House Museum to explore a home as it was in its historical heyday. Aldrich Mansion is one of the town’s most famous landmarks, a 70-room estate popular for weddings and events. Non-wedding visitors can reserve a spot at the summer luncheon or winter holiday buffets. Warwick City Hall is another must-see historical spot. Built at the turn of the 19th century, the structure is known for its massive clock tower, which presides over the town. Tour the historic building and peek at the city’s original jail cells.

Find a variety of centuries-old villages throughout Warwick. Apponaug is the city’s primary historic district. Stop by City Hall for a walking tour booklet for the village. Pawtuxet, one of the oldest village in New England, was a popular stop in the Underground Railroad and is the site where the Gaspee, a British ship, was burned during the American Revolution. The town commemorates the event with Gaspee Days, an annual month-long June celebration.

Warwick Neck and Conimicut Lighthouses guard the coast, providing ideal photo opportunities. Although neither are open to the public, Conimicut Point Park is perfect for picnicking while admiring the lighthouse.

Warwick is easily accessible by car from Newport or Providence in under an hour and Boston in just over an hour. Green Airport, linked with MBTA Rail, enables convenient travel to other major cities. Warwick has a comprehensive bus system throughout the city.
