About this property
"Sweet Clover" - Yurts at Poncha Pass. A dark sky place to see the Milky-way.
Welcome to Yurts at Poncha Pass!
4x4 vehicle required during winter months Nov. - March.
Sleep beneath the stars with our vaulted domes. Butted up against the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, with public land on two sides, feel free to walk out your door & explore on foot or sit by the pond and take in the peaceful beauty. The Yurts At Poncha Pass are a 15 min drive from Salida Co. allowing you to enjoy the perks of town while also giving you the chance to retreat to the serenity of nature and a dark sky space.
Each yurt is a fully equipped tiny home. Hot shower, flush toilet, queen bed, propane fire place, kitchen and living space gives you all the comforts of home settled in the remote headwaters of the Sanger mountains.
Each yurt has a parking space directly opposite it for guests access. There is a circle past all the yurts for easy turn around if needed. The yurts are located 0.7 miles off the highway on a private dirt road. There is plenty of hiking from the yurt, a pond to enjoy, disk golf, and a communal space with fire table, grill, and wood fired sauna.
Your stay supports sustainable education workshops in the spring and fall. If you can’t find the dates you are looking for, check out our other yurts “Scarlet Trumpet” and “The Iris”

The yurt was incredibly clean and well appointed. We really appreciated being able to bring our dog to take in all of the peacefulness. And the stars at night were absolutely spectacular.
Swanky Yurts!Very clean and the bed was awesome.Pretty remote so I wouldn’t recommend checking in when it is dark.Amazing views and plenty of wildlife.Complete kitchen so if you plan on cooking you are covered. 20 min to Poncha and 30 to Salida so it’s easy to grab a meal in town.
Extremely comfortable lodging. Experienced thunderstorm, cold, rain but so warm and comfy in this yurt. All solar powered. We had everything we needed. Also saw a Moose on the property at the small pond! We want to definitely come back.
This was a one-of-a-kind experience and I wish we could have stayed longer! What Chris is doing with his property in Poncha Pass is incredible and must be seen to be believed. We never expected the yurts to be so luxurious and fun but it was way more special and memorable than staying in a hotel! The kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom amenities were excellent and we were comfortable both in the day and night. The pictures and description really don't do this place justice and we're really happy to know that places like this and people like Chris exist in the world.
Outstanding stay overall with the exception of two items. There was no top sheet provided on the bed and it said linens were provided. There was only a bottom sheet and a large comforter and blanket so that was not acceptable for us. Second thing was the road, and we were informed that the road was rough, but it was beyond rough in some spots. There are at least two spots that are in severe shape and desperately need to be filled with dirt or rocks. Otherwise the overall stay was outstanding.
Place was great! Very relaxing, quiet, clean, easy check-in and check-out. Only recommendations to other visitors is be prepared to only use the products they provide for showers, as they recycle gray water and use it for their trees, which is awesome! And there is no top sheet on the bed, so bring a top sheet. To the host, a better trail map would be great! The book was nice and we loved reading about your place, but were a little lost for the hiking nearby.
