"Great hostel, owner is super nice, knowledgeable and helpful. Place is just a 10 minute walk to the main area of Gaia and Porto, so its quiet, but also convenient. I got a private room in this hostel, but I'm sure a dorm room would've been fine. Free breakfast every morning and owner offers recommendations or engaging conversations about Portugal and Porto. They did my laundry for 10 euros too, which was great. "

"There's much to like about The Yellow House, with one major exception. The bed is quite comfortable, and while smallish, the quarters are comfortable as well. Wifi worked very well, and the patio is a huge plus, for relaxing in the sun (I smoke the occasional cigar, so it was very welcome. It's also very quiet except for the occasional- as in not very often- barking of the two dogs next door. They're pretty cool pooches, so it was not a problem. The site is two blocks from the Cockburn Port...

"As a five-star VRBO host myself, I know something of industry standards and this property barely measured up. Yes, the view of Porto was nothing less than spectacular, the location terrific, the lodgings as advertised ( Though it would have been nice if napkins, paper towels, directions for a laundromat, and other essentials had been provided for.) "Away from Porto so more relaxed. The ocean is literally across the street. It is a campground with cabins available. The wi fi was weak. Nice break after Lisbon and before Berlin. I would stay here again and not even go into Porto which is about a 10 min ride away."
