Hidden Gem

Posted 21-May-2017
Location: Found two very nice restaurants and reasonably priced. Pizzeria Columbo on Wipplingerstrasse and Leupold Restaurant for typical Austrian dining.
This hotel is a hidden gem in District 1. The outside is unobtrusive and you have to look for it. The lobby is small with a small bar and seating area. The staff is friendly and everyone speaks English and is very helpful with directions and suggestions. The hotel is within walking distance of all of the sights, museums, shopping and many different types of restaurants. The hotel breakfast is very good with many choices for even the most discernable (that's picky like my wife) diner. The standard room is just a hotel room with a closet and shower in the bathroom. If you want a tub you should ask for a room with one. The room was spotless. There are electrical outlets available to charge phones, tablets and computers. The bed is very comfortable. There is a room safe in the closet. All in all I would recommend this hotel to friends. Rates are reasonable and location is desirable. The only drawback is that there is construction across the street and it can get noisy. To compensate for this inconvenience the hotel offers 50% off drinks in the bar. You can ask for a room that is not street side.

Excellent Find

Posted 19-May-2017
Pros: Everything!
Cons: No suggestions
A delightful Hotel. The reception staff were courteous, polite and extremely knowledgeable, The room was very clean and of a good size and well maintained. Superb breakfast and helpful staff. Not speaking German, we were amazed how all the staff could easily converse in English. The location is ideal as all the main attractions are within walking distance and the underground and tram stops are close for more distant sights. The only downside is that there is serious construction work being carried out opposite the Hotel, but this did not interfere with us much as we were out in Vienna for most of the day.

Convenient for tourist attractions

Posted 15-May-2017
Pros: The location was good for access to the numerous attractions
Cons: Air conditioning. Hotel cannot do anything about construction site
Location: Numerous palaces, Spanish riding school, Opera house etc all within a 5-10 minute walk. The national Library in Josef Platz a gem also 5 mins away
Unfortunately the hole in the ground opposite the hotel provides a disappointing view as well as the 6.20am jackhammer wake up call when the construction work starts for the day. Marks will improve when this is completed. We reported that the air conditioning was not working in our room and the "repair" appeared to be to open the window. I slept 3 nights without covers as it was too warm with them & too noisy with the window open.

Great location, disappointing infrastructure

Posted 24-Apr-2017
Pros: Location, staff
Cons: Individual temterature control in the rooms with better ventilation, that is expected of a 4 star hotel!!
Location: Close to the high end shopping area, St. Stephens Church, Rath House, State Opera and plenty of other points of interest.
The hotel is located at a very convinient location, walking distance from the historic city center and to the shopping areas. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was also nice with lots of choices. But the old infrstructure of the hotel, inclulding the centrally controlled heating and air conditioning and lack of propoer ventilation in the room was a big disappintment! We visited Viena in April 2017, and while it still cold outside, the room was HOT and felt very suffocating both during the day and even worse during the night. We could not adjust the temperature as everything was centrally controlled and they would not start the AC in the rooms as apparently there were still in "winter conditions". We could not open the windows as the City Bar was right infront of our room. My wife could hardly sleep for the first two nights of our four night stay. When after two nights of complaints, they finally gave us a little table fan to help with ventilation issue at night. So if you or your family has similar problems with temperature control and/or ventilation, I would not recommend the hotel during transition season. However, the situation might be better during summers when they could start the air conditioning throughout the hotel. Having said that, I am not sure if the other hotels in the city would be any better in this regards unless they are newly built so better to call upfront and confirm.

The Kiss - Vienna 2017

Posted 21-Apr-2017
Everywhere you turn are mementos of Gustav Klimpt's famous "Kiss" as well as countless other attractions--and the beauty of Das Tigra is that much of Vienna's finest museums, churches, palaces, restaurants and the like are right outside your door. We thoroughly enjoyed Hotel Das aTigra starting with an awesome breakfast each morning served up by always smiling, helpful staff. Our room was fairly priced, clean, stocked with essential products, comfortable beds and pillows. Everyone at the front desk (special shout-outs to Nico and Pavel) was great. Very pleased and happy to have found this little gem.

A small, friendly hotel in central Vienna

Posted 30-Mar-2017
Pros: Staff, nice room and great location.
Cons: Perhaps the construction workers across the street could start work later than 6.30 in the morning.
Location: The hotel is a short walk from shops and restaurants. The Spanish riding school and other museums and St. Stephen's Cathedral are all very close.
A very nice, comfortable hotel with helpful and friendly staff. The hotel is within a short walking distance of shops, restaurants, museums and St. Stephen's Cathedral. The only downside was the construction work going on just across the street. Weekdays work commenced at 6.30 in the morning. The hotel did provide earplugs and half price drinks in the bar to say sorry for any inconvenience.

Excellent hotel close to St Stephans Cathedral

Great hotel and location. Room very nice and very comfortable bed. However, there is major construction going on just across the street with jack hammering starting at 6:30 am! Impossible to sleep once that starts.
