Victoria stay in Hotel Rialto

Posted 17-Jan-2017
Pros: The Veneto bar downstairs, the king size bed, the spaciousness of the room, the heated bathroom floors, comfortable pillows, hot showers, ear plugs, etc
Cons: not a whole lot. Really this was a great value!
Location: Lots of things to do: the castle, shops, bakeries, coffee places, etc. We went to East Sooke for a hike as well.
This hotel was outstanding!! We would definitely stay here again! The staff were very helpful and the room it self was as well. We were on the 4th floor on the corner. Very nice room. We got lucky in that the Veneto Bar downstairs was outstanding as well. They had outstanding bartenders and food and customer service as well. The Hotel room was one of the best I've ever stayed in. The king size bed was extremely comfortable, heated bathroom floors, robes, comfortable heating, hot showers, spacious room, cable tv, and great staff and customer service. We were concerned initially as there was a clock tower literally across from the room as well as construction. They said that it shouldn't be an issue. I've never had a hotel provide ear plugs, which was very nice as I'm a light sleeper! They must have the bell turned off during sleeping hours, for it never bothered us nor the street noise. The sound proof curtains and ear plugs worked great. We slept great!! The bar downstairs with double shot drinks as "the standard" is how it should be done. We loved our experience at the hotel!!

Good location friendly staff

Posted 26-Dec-2016
Pros: Location and friendly staff
Cons: As in most hotels, lighting in room could be brighter in order to read such important items as maps an travel brochures for travellers
Location: Central city location near shops, malls, not far to waterfront
Hotel in a convenient city location, close to shopping streets, mall. Very friendly and helpful staff. Room clean and adequate. Breakfast purchased was excellent.

Nice hotel, on the edge of downtown Victoria

Posted 25-Dec-2016
I was impressed by the cleanliness of the entire hotel, bedroom, bathroom, stairways etc. We were warmly welcomed and we're taken care of professionally. I would recommend valet service as there are some parking options nearby but it was nice to not have to worry about it. Our room was simple but very nice and comfortable. Each time we came downstairs we were acknowledged by staff and we enjoyed a delicious drink at their Veneto Lounge. My only issue during the whole stay was a ringing noise in the bedroom during the night, it was loud enough to keep me distracted but I eventually fell asleep. I forgot to mention this to staff as we left, I was so distracted by their friendliness. Would recommend!

Nice hotel overall except for morning cafe

Posted 23-Dec-2016
Pros: Nice location, clean room, good quality soap, shampoo, etc.
Cons: More training on providing good service to customers for cafe staff. Muffin didn't seem very fresh also.
Liked the hotel overall. Nice entrance, hallways as well as clean & modern room. Check-in was smooth and front desk staff at time of check-in were helpful. Would have given 5 stars except for an unpleasant morning experience at their cafe. Had received two vouchers for morning cafe drink/pastry. When I presented the two vouchers and requested two drinks accordingly, the attendant was frivolous and stated that I can only use one voucher, even though I was staying for one night and had two vouchers. Asked the hotel front desk regarding this issue and they weren't helpful about it also. Other than that, they have a good restaurant and also gave a nice welcome cheese plate.

An acceptable stay

Posted 19-Dec-2016
Booked the place the last minute, looking for a place close to downtown Victoria for a two day visit. The tapas lounge was nice, even though the kitchen closed at 10. The hotel price was good, but you realize why when there were two construction projects adjacent to our room on the second floor . We ended up grabbing several pairs of earplugs off a room service cart to mask the noise for our second morning. I found the bed comfortable and the bathroom nice, especially the heated tile floor. We had a microwave, fridge, and coffee maker. Parking was a choice of leaving in on the street for free after 6 until 8 am or in a parkade a block away with same rule. Valet parking is available as well. We also got coupons for morning coffee and pastry at the restaurant. Overall, the place was good. I just don't know if I'd stay there again or perhaps find a different room away from the noise.

beautifully renovated historic building

Posted 18-Dec-2016
Pros: very friendly, very good food.
Cons: heated floor in my bathroom needed fixing but otherwise the room was very nice. And how many hotels have heated floor bathrooms? The staff were on it.
Location: very central and convenient
comfy, convenient, stylish, this central downtown hotel is close to everything worth seeing and doing in Victoria
