Comfortable hotel not far from the Harbour

Posted 25-Jun-2017
Our recent short trip from Seattle to Victoria included two nights at the Chateau Victoria. I had always stayed closer to the Harbour, but decided to try a different place. The Chateau Victoria is only a few blocks from Government Street and the Harbour. We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly, the room extremely comfortable and clean. I cannot be satisfied with a hotel if the beds are not comfortable, and our beds were rated "A!" There was an in-room air conditioner that worked perfectly, room-darkening drapes (important for those long summer daylight hours). The bathroom was small but clean and modern. I had hoped to use their indoor pool and hot tub but our busy days left no time to do this. We did have a sunset drink in their 18th-floor lounge--very nice--but did not try their restaurant so I cannot comment on that. However, I will definitely try to stay at the Chateau Victoria when I travel to Victoria next time.

Enjoyable 3 night stay.

Posted 23-Jun-2017
Pros: Just about everything
Location: Easy access to Inner Harbour & the majority of tourist attractions.
Stayed here whilst spending some time on Vancouver Island prior to joining a sea & land cruise to Alaska out of Vancouver. Enjoyed the hotel - it's in a good position, staff are helpful & friendly and it's clean & attractive.

Convenient location, locally operated

It’s not your cookie-cutter chain hotel and that makes it unique. The good: The pool is 5 to 9ft deep, that’s not child’s play; and when we were there it’s only the two of us, so we had a private pool! They have apples for grabs at the front desk, a nice touch My luggage was broken when we checked in and the concierge offered packing tape without asking, very attentive The bad: The soap alcoves in the bathroom were slimy, could use a more thorough cleaning There’s no central AC in the room, only a portable unit; the weather was cool when we stayed there so not sure how it sustains in the summer All in all we had a pleasant stay.

Loud room

Fridge needed to be unplugged in order to sleep. Portable A/C unit of poor quality and very loud. Unable to use through the night.

Nice hotel, great location, kind staff

This was a great hotel for a quick weekend getaway. This staff was great, the rooms clean and the comfortable. The actual hotel is a bit dated, but everyone there more than made up for that.

Close to downtown, free shuttle.

Posted 02-Jun-2017
There are a handful of hotels in downtown Victoria that you should stay at. This is one of them. Right behind the famous Empress and with free shuttle service to anywhere in the downtown/ bay area, you can't go wrong staying here. Staff was friendly and courteous and the rooms were clean and comfortable. I will stay here again.

Excellent hotel close to town

Pros: Central.Excellent reception and cleaning staff. Short walk to tourist buses and harbour walks.
Cons: Breakfast menu in hotel not suitable to those on various diets ie. suitable for Americans but no oatmeal on menu.
Location: Very close to shopping but could only find one café which was a considerable distance away which offered oatmeal for breakfast.
On arrival received an upgrade to room with kitchenette, separate lounge and king sized bed. Huge room. Very clean. Close to shopping areas. Short walk to BC Connector Bus Service.

Excellent hotel.

Close to Royal BC Museam and Inner Harbour. Very convenient. Hotel staff genuinely friendly. Check in and check out flawless and seamless. Coffee available in lobby in morning (good quality too!). Room spotlessly clean. Bed and linen high quality and very comfortable. Also, as a patron who supports local business and employees that are well taken care of - I prefer this hotel as it is unionized AND has excellent management. Together, this makes a happy, healthy staff and this is reflected in the quality of the service. It is also locally owned. Also, the happy hour at Vista 18 was great. I liked that their specials included the local brewer, Hoynes- which is excellent (this reviewer is a member of CAMRA and 'knows' craft beer :) ). The price for the room was competive to others in the area. I would choose to return and recommend in a heartbeat.
