The hotel was located very close to St. Mark's Square. A gondolier was located right beside the hotel. He was excellent and this was also very convenient. I would stay here again.

This hotel was beautiful and everything we needed. It is located just off St. Mark's Square which is a great location to the shops and restaurants as well as the waterfront. And the AC was fantastic!

Clearly a very old building that the staff try to keep in the best shape they can but the rusting round the bath sealant and the "dodgy" looking electrical sockets left something to be desired. Staff were friendly and helpful. The main plus is the hotels location but if you are looking for up to date creature comforts then this may not be the place for you.

Pretty old building and furnitures, our room air conditioning was too hot for summer time, seems like other rooms was cold enough, buffet breakfast is just okay, lobby is nicely decorated but rooms are old furnitures and some bathrooms are nicer than others … your stay will depend on your luck .. but the excellent location worth taking the chances.

The hotel is old and so it needs a lot of upkeep. The bed was below a massive been which felt very weird to sleep under. The shower plugged up and there was no screens on the window. The front staff were not helpful. We asked if the water in the room was included and was told no by a woman who seemed very annoyed by us. (FYI, the first 2 bottles are included). The only staff that were polite and friendly was an older gentleman who helped us store our luggage and the staff helping at breakfast.

The hotel was in great location and breakfast was great too. We were disappointed with the room though. For the price we paid, it was very small, there was barely any room to move around or to open our luggage. The bed was very uncomfortable too. The elevator would go up to 4th floor and our room was on the 6th floor. Anyway we enjoyed visiting Venice, but I would be careful on chosing a room next time.

Hotel Royal San Marco is advertised as a four-star hotel, but based on our stay, I'd place it closer to the three-star category. The hotel is quite old and dated and could definitely use some updating. For the prices charged, we expected a little more from the rooms and the property overall. Breakfast was fine but fairly average and nothing particularly memorable. The staff, however, were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The biggest positive is definitely the location. You are extremely central and within about a five-minute walk of most of the major sights around San Marco. The trade-off is noise. Being this close to Piazza San Marco means you’re in a busy area, and you will hear the bells throughout the day, including around midnight. Overall, it was satisfactory for our short two-night stay and the location made exploring Venice very easy. If we returned, though, we would probably stay a little farther from the main square and look for a more modern hotel at a similar price.

Considering the age of this building, everything was very well maintained, clean and functional. Our room was interesting and perfect for us, with our daughter along on the trip! The staff were very helpful, the room was comfortable and the breakfast was amazing.

Our room was very small. We asked to change and they said they would call us the following day. No call! I would like if they would smile. The breakfast staff were very nice. Location is great. Despite the above I would stay again but request to see the room before. Staff helpful working out a water taxi to get to train station which was great.

The room was a box, just tiny. The photos are misleading. There were ants on the floor and mold in the bathroom. That being said, it was sufficient as a base. AC worked well, the bathroom was large enough and well-appointed, and the location was outstanding, right next to St. Mark’s, perfect for an early morning run along the lagoon, or a short walk to the Ponte Rialto area for food and drinks. The rate is a little high for the accommodations, but the location makes up for it. The inexpensive Vaporetto has stops at the train station and Piazzale Roma, so getting dropped at Rialto Bridge saves you a lot of walking and dragging your suitcase up and down stairs.

I would choose this place again simply for the location. It’s only a 1 minute walk to St. Mark’s Square and easy to find. My husband and I appreciated the strong air conditioning in our room (a welcomed relief from the summer heat), excellent buffet breakfast varieties, helpful staff, and being provided with a breakfast-to-go when we needed to check out at 5am for our flight.

The room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was pretty decent and the staff were very friendly and made my stay very comfortable. Would definitely stay there again. The hotel is literally a few yards from San Marco’s Piazza.
