Character building in perfect location

Posted 24-Oct-2016
Pros: This is an old Venetian building of great character. All the staff are wonderful, helpful and professional in every way. Breakfast bar is basic but very good. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The location is ideal for main sites and shopping areas.
Cons: I couldn't find anything to complain about. Some fresh fruit at breakfast would be very welcome!
Location: Centrally placed near St Mark's Square and within easy walking distance of the Rialto Bridge. Plenty of restaurants nearby and close to water us stops

Excellent locstion, staff and cleanliness. Several good and reasonable eateries within a block or two. Right on opera house square. Fine hotel and highly recommended.

Major sights and opera on the doorstep.

Posted 10-Sep-2016
Pros: Excellent staff - friendly and helpful. Location is central in the San Marco area.
Cons: Some of the hotel's fabric is a bit 'tired' but it adds to the hotel's quirky ambience
Location: Teatro La Fenice opera house is next door, St Mark's square is 5 minute's walk away .. The Rialto is a bit further but not too far.
I came to Venice for opera and chose the Hotel La Fenice Et Des Artistes because it is next door to the opera house, hidden away in a courtyard ... very convenient and the major sights are not far away. I came by water taxi from the airport and the driver's directions to the hotel through narrow alleys were exact though the hotel had already forwarded guidance via email but via a different route. My reception was welcoming and straightforward. A 'porter' took my luggage to my room. This was on the 4th floor but the lift goes to the 3rd floor only .. perhaps not for someone with a mobility problem. The 'green' room was small and the facilities smaller but adequate enough for a solo traveler. It faced out over rooftops and not a canal or the Taverna courtyard ... so the room was quiet AND there was a 'personal' terrace. The aircon was very good. The bed and mattress was firm and, for me, comfortable. Linen was changed daily. Breakfast consisted of the 'basic', cold staples and was good enough to set me up for the day. Dining in the Taverna or a drink on the courtyard was quality experience - with hotel dining discount. The steak was excellent and people watching from the terrace was fun. I was more than content, here, and I shall return.

Hotel is very close San Marco. But, room is very uncomfortable. I do not recommend to anyone except location. There was a noise from somewhere but i couldn't figure out where it was coming from.

Nettes Stadthotel

Zentral gelegen, freundliches Personal, saubere Zimmer. Das Frühstücksbüffet ist nicht üppig aber ausreichend. Ich würde das Hotel wieder buchen.

Hotel bien placé

Posted 25-Aug-2016
Pros: Emplacement

Perfect location for exploring Venice.

Posted 20-Aug-2016
Pros: The welcoming and helpful staff, and a comfortable room.
Cons: Our shower, although hot and powerful enough, leaked onto the bathroom floor.
Location: Ideally located for us, being mid-way between St Mark's Square and the Accademia bridge.
When looking for a break, this seemed to be (and was) an ideal base for our holiday. Having visited Venice on several occasions, we already had some favourite restaurants, shops and areas we were happy to revisit. The staff were friendly and helpful and we really enjoyed our stay.
