Good value for a trip to Venice
Having always wanted to visit Venice but put off by the cost, this hotel was a good find (although somehow we didn't select Breakfast when booking - that was 9 euros per person per day extra - a tad pricey but avoidable once we found the excellent supermarket along the front!)
On approach it seems a bit dodgy, down alleys and nothing to shout about as a facade, but once inside it is very well finished. Our room was excellent, and the staff were courteous. Location on Giudecca is nice and quiet, and adds to the adventure since you need a vaporetto trip to go anywhere - fine if you buy the almost mandatory three day pass (and well worth the money as it gives you unlimited freedom to jump on and off, and visit the Lido and Murano!).
My only criticism was the Internet - I've had better connections on a camping trip in the wild fells of the Lake District! Luckily, mobile internet coverage was good, and there was an RJ45 jack in the room, so take an ethernet cable in case it works!
