the cabin was exactly as described. stairs to basement were a bit tricky, but we managed just fine. Loved being with son's family that rented the cabin next door. Thanks for another great stay at Deer Run.

Adorable cabin
We had so much fun at this cabin, our first trip since my husbands OHS.....took the boys snowboarding at wintergreen and loved the drive to and from the cabin. Went to crabtree falls and had lunch at a brewery.......we will be back.....wonderplace and the scenery is so beutiful.

We absolutely loved this property. It might look a little small on the outside but is very spacious. It is beautifully frnished and had everything we needed and more. The owners contacted me to make sure we were settled and were incredibly kind. We didn't want to leave and look forward to booking again in the summer!

Our little get away
It was more then I expected very nice clean cozy Everything you needed :) We had such a great time with our 9 year old grandson My son his wife and my other granddaughter came up on Sunday morning to they loved it to :) The owners are so very nice ! We will definitely use them again !!!!

Cabin in the Woods
The cabin was in excellent condition and very clean. The depiction on Vrbo is accurate and the cabin contains all the needed amenities. We had immediate contact with the host who offered information and assistance (though none was needed). The stream or brook is near enough to provide a backdrop of pleasant sound and the leaves were just beginning to fall - altogether a very relaxing environment. While the cabin is a little remote, there are interesting day trips available in the region to places like Crabtree Falls and several wineries and breweries. The cabin in the woods is a great place to escape and relax!

The cabin was great. The location was great. We started a fire in fireplace the first night. When we opened the damper for the fireplace, there must have been a bee's nest in the flue so we chased bees in the cabin both Wednesday night and Thursday night. We decided not to have a fire Friday night so we didn't have to chase bees. Also I don't think the broiler element works on the oven.

I was so pleased that the home was as cozy as the pictures. The nearby brook and swimming hole were steps away from the property. The listing was accurate as listed. The property owners were sweet and attentive to our needs. Loved it and hope to go again when I am back in the area.

Really nice stay
Wverything was very nice. Tidy, clean, nice furnishings and all. The house is located up a single lane road that turns to only gravel, which is fine but could be intimidating to some, so just be aware of that. Really enjoyed the stay and would come back.

Streamfully wonderful
The property was presented as described on the website. Charming and comfortable interior, relaxing stream outside the property, fire pit and grill for outdoor cooking or roasting marshmallows. This was an excellent getaway rental for us and would recommend it.

40th birthday
I wanted to be away from the busy city life and have some peace and quiet for my 40th birthday. Deer Run definitely delivered. The cabin was perfect for my family of 3. There was no shortage of things to do either. From the small surrounding towns to Crabtree Falls, you will not be bored. Definitely will try and get back again.

Peaceful cabin on beautiful Tye river!
We enjoyed our time spent "off the grid" at this cute, comfortable cabin. Although unfortunately we had car trouble and therefore could not explore the surrounding area as planned, we still had a good, restful time. We walked down to the gorgeous river, fished, and gathered around the fire pit in the evenings. We did have some trouble finding the cabin--use the actual cabin address with your GPS instead of the suggested GPS address mentioned in the vrbo keys to the property information. We would love to return to the Deer Run cabin with a functioning car to explore this beautiful part of Virginia.

Delightful as always
The three cabins, including Bear Paw, are all wonderful. We rent one when we have family in the area. It is always clean, spacious, and welcoming. Deer Run, ( along with Hawks View and Bear Paw) is great with the side deck that overlooks the stream. My relatives said it is almost like camping, with a cool breeze and sounds of the river through the windows. There are lots of places to walk, right out the front door, and access to the Tye, right behind the house. Plenty of wineries, breweries etc within 30 minutes, as well as Crabtree Falls. Any season is nice here, enjoy!

Great Montebello VA Home
This home in the mountains of Virginia had everything! It was isolated and quiet, but with all the amenities you’d expect. The property is perfect for a weekend hiking trip, with easy access to several well-known Virginia waterfalls, including Crabtree Falls in George Washington and Jefferson National Forests and White Rock falls. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful Cabin in the woods
Very few things in life come exactly as described, but this is one of them. The cabin is exactly as shown in the pictures, its clean and very beautiful. It has pretty much everything you need including dishes and a washer and dryer and an outside grill and firepit. The only thing you'll want to be sure to bring is firewood. The entire place is beautiful and the location is exactly what we were looking for. The cell service will be non existent however, but they do have wifi. This is definitely somewhere my wife and I will be returning it. Thanks for the great stay!

Peaceful Cabin
This is exactly what I was looking for me to take my 80 year old mom. It was peaceful yet easy to get to. We LOVED the creek being around us. To walk right out on deck and see the creek, awesome. The downstairs bedroom had access right to the creek and you could lay down and just listen to the creek. Great quality time with us reading our Bible together and discussing everything. Happy Memories!!

Great little cabin off the grid. Walk down to the river was awesome. 30 min drive to the breweries! Landlord called to make sure we had everything and she was super nice. Highly recommend.

Wonderful mountain escape
Our family stayed for a long weekend at the cabin and had a wonderful time! Kids aged 3 and 5 had a blast with the spiral staircase, outside deck, marshmallows over the fire, and of course the beautiful creek behind the house. I will recommend to all my friends and family!

From the side porch you see and hear a rushing stream. Behind the house is a river with huge boulders and a place to lie down in the cold mountain water. I'm front of the house is a picnic table and a fire pit. Wonderful

This is our fourth time back to the 3 cabins owned by Kenneth and margaret. Out of the 3 this is our favorite one! This was our first time with our 3 month old daughter and we will make a tradition out of it as she grows up! The last time we went there wasn’t a bathroom downstairs but they did a great job installing one. They also got new sheets and a shower curtain- loved what they picked out! Love pulling up and seeing the river and hearing it in the morning. Will continue to return for years to come

Perfect getaway
It was better than I expected. Having coffee on the porch with the creek right beside you, listening to the water, watching the wildlife. It was the perfect weekend getaway. The place was very clean and well maintained, and a short walk took you to the river, shallow and rocky, it was great for just soaking and exploring. Crabtree falls are just a few miles down the road, a challenging hike, and worth every step. We will definitely be back!

Return to the North Fork
Everything about our trip lived up to high expectations! I was bringing my grandchildren age 11 & 7 back to the area before they move to Wilmington NC. The Taylors were terrific about letting us reschedule when we had a conflict. The cabin was welcoming and easy to spend a short weekend. I look forward to coming back!

We loved the cabin although it’s about an hour from most things to do it was a nice change of pace. The only complaint Id have is you need to have some sort of TV cable satellite for storm warnings etc, the mattress in the main level bedroom time to change it out, and the toilet paper is to thin and cheap. Other than that we loved it. Would definitely stay again.

A lovely cabin nestled in the woods. A quiet place to rejuvenate and recharge. When the internet went out, we called the owners, they were quick to offer support. It took a while to get it fixed, but my husband was familiar, so we were able to get online for a few minutes, that was all that we needed. The owners even called back to make sure we were okay. Great service, lovely cabin. Highly recommended!

Solitude and Serenity
Located 2 miles up a dirt road - easily accessible. The early spring temps and running creek made for an idyllic setting for coffee on the deck. We checked out the swimming hole, a must, but it was also freezing (50ish deg). Prepare to be self-contained, 20 miles to anything. Throughly enjoyed our time outdoors, cooking, fire, horseback riding, and kayaking. Didn't leave emough time to hike - next trip. Owners were great to work with; NEED instructions for the Keurig - some cups were half full, others overflowing. Our 14 y.o. g/son, a city boy, wasn't too sure of it, but loved it, especially the downstairs bed.

Two Important Tips
I made the mistake of assuming that the “Here Are the Keys to Your Trip” email that came from VRBO a few days before would include the check in instructions/key code, but it did not. (I’m not sure if this was an owner or VRBO error.) There is NO cell service so *thank goodness* there was someone home at the cabin next door who let us in to use the land line and *thank goodness* the property owners answered, even on Thanksgiving night! My only complaint is that I recommend a space heater for the downstairs bedroom—way too cold in November! Kids crashed instead on the two couches in living room. The river below the cabin is easy to access and pure magic. The view of nothing but beautiful woods and drifting leaves was gorgeous. We love this area, close to many trails and lovely drives. Enjoy, just be sure you have the code ahead of time, and ask if there’s now a space heater if it’s a cool or cold time of year!
