It was ok but most shops can be found in the Arndale Centre without a 30 minute bus ride.
A cab from the hotel at a fixed £10 each way (for three) was perhaps the best way to get there, though there are plans to extend the tram service. You'll be wowed by the main entrance lobby. Great selection of shops.
