Top The River Wear Hotel Reviews
Delta Hotels Durham Royal County
10/10 Excellent
"Great, central location in Durham yet away from the noisy centre. Professional staff and standards (albeit a bit boring) you'd expect from a reliable hotel."
Radisson BLU Hotel Durham
10/10 Excellent
"Parking was safe and secure, staff were incredibly helpful and the hotel was really good, clean and close to local amenities"
Farnley Tower Guesthouse
10/10 Excellent
"Friendly manager very helpful and attentive Quality breakfast in comfortable dining area. Great value for money short walk into town or cheap Uber. Nice old fashioned guest house. Thank you. Recommend"
Ramside Hall Hotel, Golf and Spa
10/10 Excellent
"For what must be an older hotel, the amenities are excellent, modern and well kept, swimming pool is massive with a jacuzzi hot tub, didn’t use the spa but looks amazing, bedroom was lovely, a nice size overlooking the garden area, nice and quiet, didn’t use golf course but ‘The Pin’ is a great place to visit ( in hotel grounds) sports bar, bowling, driving range, shuttle board and lots more, friendly helpful staff, will definitely be back!"
The Kingslodge Inn - The Inn Collection Group
10/10 Excellent
"We arrived early and staff were helpful in explaining how walk into Durham. The hotel was nice and had a good sized car park, all was clean and tidy, we had a nice quiet room at the back. There was a good selection of beers at the bar. Because of the hot weather we weren't too hungry in the evening but chose a selection of small plates after a dish of mussels for me and a prawn cocktail for my wife. The mussels were the only disappointment of the stay, they were tiny and I had several empty shells with no spare mussels in the bottom!!! We both enjoyed a good breakfast the following morning, which was freshly made from a good choice on the menu. All in all a very pleasant stay and a place I would happily visit again. For dog owners, you can take your dog but not into the restaurant section."
Chapel Heights in Durham
10/10 Excellent
"Communication with staff was not great prior to check in but once on site they were great. Fire alarms are pretty sensitive and went off twice during my stay but staff responded quickly to those. It is obvious that this accommodation is intended for students with a longer stay than just a week. Towels were provided and crockery but no cutlery at all, luckily I had a travel set with me so I was okay but some may find that an issue. Over all it worked great for me and it is a short walk into Durham whichI loved. I'd book again."

"Good location within walking distance to the shops etc Parking at the rear Excellent communication from the host Flat very clean"
Travelodge Durham
8/10 Good
"Overall: Very nicely clean! Lovely room, bathroom & view. A bit of a hike to get to the actual room itself, but a pleasant one. Facilities: USB ports worked well for charging. No microwave/fridge available in the room I chose, although I should've inquired about this I suppose. Was able to make instant oatmeal for breakfast using the water kettle & mugs provided. Nice tea/coffee options. Didn't try the "grab-and-go" breakfast—costs extra and doesn't seem super nutritious. Careful: Wifi also costs extra after the first 30 mins you use it per 24-hour period. This was frustrating. But it also wasn't very expensive to buy access (something like £3.50 extra per 24 hours). Friendly staff, but no one was at the reception desk initially. Make sure you have cell service if you need to call them—I didn't, but got lucky since some passersby let me use their phone to call reception. Not sure if pet-friendly. Don't use a car to visit Durham. Take the train!"
Toast Lettings | Apartment 4 The Grove minutes walk from Durham City
8/10 Good
"Great quiet location and reasonable walk to the city centre. Great access down to the river and woodland walks around the area of the flat. There is a Sainsbury's local a short walk away. The flat is nestled in the trees and we heard then saw two owls early one morning, a lovely bonus. The flat is clean, warm and cosy, it would be helpful to have a few extra things like proper oven gloves a little more crockery (only 4 of each). Two of the dining chairs had very wobbly legs so we didn't sit on them. Also clarification of the parking in the notes/instructions as it said park at the top but there was building work and not really room for our car along with another visitor's car without someone being blocked in. It was ok to park at the bottom of the flats, it would just be helpful to know on arrival. Great stay though and would come again, thank you."
