Shop till you drop in the city centre, visit the former residence of Princess Beatrix and discover the museums of this versatile city which is a stone's throw from the seaside.

Spend a weekend in the political centre of the Netherlands and enjoy charming shops and one or more of the city's numerous museums. The Hague is also home to the palace which Princess Beatrix lived in for many years. End an active day with a long walk on the beach which is but a short tram ride away!

According to most historians, The Hague dates back to the 13th century when Duke William II started constructing the Binnenhof. A village established itself around the complex and grew over the centuries into the political centre it is today.

Book a tour of Binnenhof and see the Torentje (the prime minster's office), the Ridderzaal (the knights’ hall) and the seat of the Dutch government. Mauritshuis with masterpieces such as The Girl with the Pearl Earring by Vermeer and The Anatomy Lesson of Dr Nicolaes Tulp by Rembrandt is an absolute must. Catch your breath with a drink at one of the numerous cafés at Grote Markt. Because the seaside is so close, you can easily visit Scheveningen during your stay. Perfect if you want to relax after a busy day in town!

The Hague is easy to explore on foot, by bicycle or public transport. The city has a bus and tram service so you can sit down and rest while travelling between the sights. If you would like to head out to the beach between museums or shops, the direct tram to Scheveningen is the best way to get there. The Hague is easy to reach by public transport. If you’re travelling by car, the city is easy to reach via Utrecht (A12) or the A4 if you’re coming from the north.

This lovely city has a fabulous beach as well as fun shops, cultural heritage and great night life. The Hague is a must-visit city! Check Expedia for the best accommodation and enjoy a wonderful stay.
