Don't book half board!!

Posted 29-Nov-2016
Pros: Location and staff
Cons: Hot food/ new chefs!
Location: Close to La Calleta with restaurants and ocean views/tapas bar. Quite close to Playa Fanabe and Las Americas. Golf course at La Calleta.
This is a nice hotel although the furniture and general decor is a bit old fashioned. When I commented on this I was told it was the "plantation styling" and deliberate. I can't argue with that but it's not my personal favourite decor and to be honest I thought it all looked a little tired. The staff here are great, really helpful and got me a room move when I pointed out that our original view was over a building site adjacent to the hotel. The single biggest problem we had is that we pre booked and paid for half board and the hot food on the buffet each night was simply awful. I wish we'd booked b&b and used the local restaurants in La Calleta (4€ taxi ride). The best hot food we got all week was from a local tapas bar!! - In addition, we tried the poolside restaurant and got served shoulder of Pork burned as black as a chimney sweeps brushes. We also tried room service pizza and they got this badly wrong 2 out of 3 attempts. Having seen previous reviews raving about the buffet, we were hugely disappointed on our stay.

A pleasant hotel

Posted 20-Nov-2016
Pros: The pools - there are several: some unheated and some heated.
Cons: There was not a nice central bar area.
Location: The hotel is located on a hill. It is a 10 - 15 minute walk from the coast.
The room was good, very comfortable bed. It had a balcony facing the sea - there was quite a lot of traffic noise from the road close by. The breakfast was very good. There was a nice pool area.

Super Frühstück und Buffet.

Posted 05-Nov-2016

Perfect small luxury hotel for families

Posted 04-Sep-2016
Great, small luxury hotel that is very family friendly. Great pools that pass the premium sun lounger test. The hotel is comfy, easy and perfect for a 4-7 night break. The food is great quality, we ended up having the Buffet 4 nights out of 7 for ease and it is much better than anything you will find for miles. There isn't much around but it's perfect for the long sunny relaxing days. Playa deal duque is nice, there are a couple of nice restaurants, but that's about it and it's a 15 min hilly walk in the heat (our little one was not keen). Recommend A whale watching trip, other than that enjoy the lovely hotel.
