Definitely not a 5*
Previously I have stayed at the Gran Hotel Bahia Del Duce which is just below this hotel, that is in a totally different league to this despite them both being 5* hotels. This hotel did not feel like a 5* in any regard. The room facilities are minimal, you have to ask for everything, nothing appears to be standard - no tea/coffee making facilities, no alarm clock, no free water (every bottle costs €4.50). I agree with the environmental policy of not making too much laundry, but I feel that this is excessive as our towels were never changed during a 5 night stay. The evening turn down service is a waste of time - either do it properly, or don't both at all.
The décor in the hotel looks tired and the rooms are very bare.
Most of the staff are pleasant, but nothing is ever done with any speed or efficiency, it's definitely a manana attitude to everything.
The location is OK, but you are up a hill so not so good for the less mobile, although they do operate a shuttle down to the beach a few times a day.
My trip was OK, but overall it was a bit disappointing and I won't be going back there.
