Pros: Everything, good eats right across street. and good one just down street.
Location: Walk to ferry to Mackinac Island. Great trip.

Close Proximity to Everything

Pros: The pool/hot tub and beach area are very nice. Breakfast room is spacious and food is fine.
Cons: Our 2 bedroom suite needs a small couch. The suite is designed for 6 people, yet only 3 chairs are available. It needs more towel racks, very lacking.
Location: Well located by restaurants and ferry boats heading to Mackinaw Island.
We had a room, and then offered a better (king/queen bed) for $10 more. Then we found out our traveling friends did not have a room due to a glitch in the reservation, and she had confirmed the day before! They were given a room, our previous one. A 2 bedroom suite was offered to us, but we had to climb 15 stairs to reach it! How is that???? We did not appreciate how our friends were treated because it was the hotel's fault for the reservation. I also spoke with another woman who booked hers in June only to check in and find the same, no reservation. I would not book there again. The hotel itself is fine, beds comfortable and great pillows, but I mistrust the reservation process. Our friend called directly and the hotel insisted she did it on-line. Not at all. The breakfast is in a nice room, and food is fine. The Hamilton Inn is an inviting setting, but I believe the reservation staff is very lacking.

Confusing layout, but great breakfast.

Rooms were very nice, but noisy (we heard conversations down the hall and banging all night). Need to put up signs to make it easier to find the lobby + pool, etc (because of the way the building is layed out - we never knew where we were). Breakfast was very good and included cold cereals, bagels, donuts, scrambled eggs, sausage patties, biscuits + gravy, waffles, ect. Only complaint was the canned fruit - served at room temp.

Wonderful view of the beach

Pros: Right on the beach and walking distance to most attractions.
Location: Trolley Tour, Icebreaker Museum, Arnold's Ferry to Mackinac Island.
Absolutely beautiful view of the beach. I recommend the beachfront rooms. Breakfast buffet was good and my kids loved the make your own waffles. We took the Historic Trolley Tour that picked us up right outside the hotel.

Hotel is liking being home

We really enjoyed this hotel. So many amenities and very clean. The staff was warm and friendly and right in the middle of it all in Mackinaw City. Would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Modernize and update facility/fixtures.
Check In was a bad experience. Tour bus blocked entrance upon arrival. Limited parking spaces. Bathroom door would not close properly. Main door to room seemed warped, hard to close. Gnats (fruit flies) in shower area.

Disappointing

The hotel needs updating. We were out on the balcony and the latch moved and locked us out on the balcony. No apology nothing. They do not care about their customers. I booked and paid for this room here on expedia. They charged me again for the stay while there. When I called I was treated very rudely by those who answered the phone. They put you on hold and never come back on. When I finally got through after 4 calls a woman said she would refund the next day which is odd. They act like it is no big deal charging your card when they shouldn't have. We stayed on the 5th of Sept and still do not have my refund I am told was run. When I asked for the General Managers name I was told Phil. Can I talk to him? No. Can I have his last name? No. Can I have his email? No. What kind of business does not allow access to the GM??? The kind that does a lousy job at customer service. There are many nice places to stay in the area avoid this one if you can.

Great Location Makes Up for Meh Experience

The staff are not overly friendly. When we first arrived, we weren't sure they were going to find our reservation. Once they found our information, they immediately upsold us because "you don't need two queen beds." That's not really a reason for US to spend more money - it was more a reason for them to change our room. The room itself was relatively clean, but it was damp the entire time. The a/c just did not do anything for the moisture in the room. The vending machine has signs on it that says they are not responsible if the machine eats your money............of course, the machine ate our money twice. Yes, we are suckers for thinking it surely wouldn't happen a second time. All of our interactions with the staff left us feeling that they were very stern rather than friendly and appreciative. The continental breakfast was pretty ok & kept tidy by an on staff person. If we ever stay there again, it will be because it is located in a great place in relation to the "stuff" to do in the area.

Weak gym equipments They should put more weights

We checked in late & check out early. Just to stay a night. It was not bad... But I can't turn the lights on at my night stand.
