Stay in a luxury villa, indulge in spa treatments and good food, go looking for new additions to your wardrobe with a bit of retail therapy or just relax on the beach in Seminyak, the chic alternative to the busier Kuta.

During your drive north from Kuta to Seminyak, you will soon notice a change in atmosphere. The beaches get quieter, the buildings get grander and shops more glamorous. These differences have ensured that Seminyak has come to be known as the ideal destination for travellers looking for luxury in Bali.

Shopping in Seminyak can easily turn into an all day affair. You’ll find all the top brands, alongside local boutique shops. Prices are a little higher when compared to other parts of Bali, but most are still lower than what you’ll find in most Western countries; for a real bargain go to Seminyak Square, away from the hustle and bustle of the main streets.

Looking for a nice dinner? Well you’re in luck; food in Indonesia is to die for. Choose from some of the best restaurants in Bali, most of which can be found along Jalan Seminyak. Dine on a rooftop terrace with incredible views over the sea, order a cold beer or a cocktail and watch the people going about their business down below.

If you’re looking for a bit of rest and relaxation then a spa hotel in Seminyak is a must; spa treatments in this region are wonderful. If you just want to chill out by the sea, Seminyak Beach is beautiful. It also has some of the calmest waves on the island and so is an ideal place to try surfing. A little further along the coast you can try horseback riding, or simply enjoy a fresh fruit cocktail.

It’s easiest to explore Seminyak on foot as the traffic is often quite busy and there isn’t much public transport. You could rent a bicycle or moped to dodge the traffic or simply take a taxi if you don’t mind a bit of a wait.

It's got lots of shops, places to eat, places to visit. The traffic at times is horrendous if you have a disabled person trying to cross roads with you because they don't stop, and the pavements are very uneven in places ie for wheelchair/buggy.

Make sure you haggle prices, go to different stalls and enquire about prices and dont just settle for their last price. Some people will get agitated with you, but dont mind that. You need to be happy with the price you are paying.
