A must stay, we stayed here during a tour of the south and out of the five places we stayed this was by far our favourite. It is clean, comfortable with a fantastic location and very warm hosts.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful location. We were in a standard room and were very impressed by the comfort and quality - the photos don’t do the room justice! The bathroom was very modern and well maintained and the double bed very comfortable. There are a few hangers but otherwise not much space to unpack. We also enjoyed the amenities the hotel has to offer. We tried the restaurant twice for dinner and although it is a bit expensive, the food was an absolutely delicious fine dining experience....

we only stayed here a night, checked in around 8.45pm, which is shame..we don't have chance to try the local food,have room in front of the sea, next to sauna and jacuzzi ... what else can i say... it was a bonus and was beyond awesome i love to come back one day and stay more then 2 nights

Great location and excellent property

This is a unique and lovely hotel in a remote part of the south of Iceland. The rooms have a cabin-feel and there are outdoor hot tubs. Great for exploring the south coast and being rural enough to give you a good chance of seeing the northern lights. Good breakfast where you can help yourself to the buffet and/or order off the menu (only 3 items though - omelettes, fry-up or porridge). The rating is actually 4.5 and its just because on our first day, our towels smelled so musty so we had to have them replaced. Also the corridors can be very noisy especially since the doors are heavy and slams if not guided to a close. If your room is close to the Spa, the geothermal smell (sulphurish) can be smelt in your room though that is not the hotels fault at all. The reason I continued to give it 5 stars though is because these things are bearable and is not entirely a deal breaker...

Combining wilderness and luxury, you couldn’t feel cosier inside the small hotel with views ready to strike wonder at every turn. Part industrial hipster warehouse with cement, part luxurious soft furnished grandeur, part nordic chic, you can firmly sink into comfort while the wilderness sweeps over you with breathtaking power. Really cute place. Lovely room. Clean, good shower, great heating. Comfy beds. Great breakfast: eggs, bacon, beans, toast, yogurt, sweet waffles. We had dinner one night, the salmon was delicious. Beef pasta was dry and lukewarm but, to be honest, we were happy to have dinner there rather than driving elsewhere. Friendly staff. Reception is not always manned but they tell you their hours and unless you have pressing issues/questions it’s fine. Overall great place.

I loved every minute of staying with you. Every staff member was exceptional. Great attitudes and so kind and helpful. The thought that has gone in to the design, the activities and the food is obvious. Couldn’t be better. Thank you

We stayed at Nyvagar for four nights and were very happy with our stay. The hotel is nicely located next to the sea, but only 10 minutes drive to Svolvaer. The roburs are comfortable with equipped kitchens and lots of space. Breakfast is OK and has everything you would expect. The staff is very friendly.

Such a great stay!

After some of the very poor quality accommodation that we have encountered on this trip, this was a very welcome relief. If Iceland really wants to become a tourist destination they need to provide better accommodation like this. My only suggestion is that they encourage more residents to walk to the falls. It’s an amazing walk yet nobody doing it!

Nice room. Good dining option. Only one bathroom for 3 rooms might be an issue. But it was ok for us, as only one other room in use. Nice kitchen with everything to prep a meal and breakfast.

Comfortable, well equipped bedroom, with a beautiful view. Enjoyed a drink and dinner at the hotel. Breakfast was well presented , and a great choice of different options.

We were so pleased we chose Hotel Grimsborgir for our stay. It is in a beautiful location, easy to get to lots of different places of interest and the scenery is amazing. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the accommodation was so comfortable and warm. The hot tub was a lovely addition.

Overall it is a comfortable and cozy place to stay, it will be appreciated if the breakfast can be served earlier than 8:00.
