Originally built in 1838 and located in the heart of Savannah’s Landmark Historic District – one of the largest areas of its kind in America, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Bird Baldwin House was built in two stages – the original wood-sided portion (left side) was constructed in 1838 and the stucco portion (right side) was added in 1860\. Lewis Bird, a prominent Savannah attorney at the time, began the original construction but sadly perished with his entire family on the Steamship Pulaski when it exploded off the coast of North Carolina and sank on June 14, 1838\. Mr. Bird's mother completed the house and later sold it to his law partner Mr. Baldwin who lived in it for many years. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved the location. Check in and out was easy. The rental was clean and comfortable. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. The only problem we had was the wi-fi went out and it was needed to use the TV. We called and were told that they would look into it the next day - when we were leaving. It was a minor inconvenience for us, but could have been a problem for a different renter. A truly phenomenal location- really can't beat how close this is to everything you'd want to see in Savannah - PLUS a designated parking spot is a huge bonus downtown. The apartment is very comfortable, with everything you need for a quick stay, plenty of towels and toiletries. It's actually much more spacious than you'd expect from the photos, the rooms are huge! Keep in mind this is a historic property right off Liberty Street, so you will have some street noise, but for us we expected that with the location and we were not bothered by it (and the noise was not excessive in our opinion, but do note it is on a main street). The unit is very well maintained and has all the historic charm you'd want from visiting the city. Property management was also great! We had an issue loading our check in instructions on arrival, and didn't realize there are TWO check in codes you need to access the house (and so kept trying to use the gate with our house code, which of course didn't work - not management's fault, just a tech snafu). Property management was super responsive and we figured out the issue quickly, which was really helpful! And we appreciated how secure the building is, it felt very safe even late at night. There are few very reasonably priced great rentals in the downtown area, but this is one of them, we'd definitely stay again. ##### Zoe T. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We will have nothing but great memories from our stay at the Bird Baldwin house. We love walking around and seeing Savannah's older homes, so getting to stay in one with original hardwood floors, pocket doors, tall solid-wood doors, and other historic elements made our trip even more special. The location was perfect - one block away from one of Savannah's beautiful squares and a coffee shop with divine pastries right next door. All of the downtown locations we wanted to visit were within walking distance and we felt safe walking "home" after dark. There was some street noise that we weren't used to, but after all the walking, we slept well and the noise didn't affect us. The bed was comfortable, but a little tall and difficult to get into for someone under 5'5". On-site parking was a definite plus! It was comfortable and clean. The decor was lovely as well. The bathroom vanity is small - just a pedestal sink, but would not prevent me from coming back! Also, there is a fair amount of nighttime vehicle noise but again, this would not prevent us from returning! Walkable to a lot that Savannah has to offer! ##### Erin B.
