Not a clean hotel by any means. Right in the flight path for planes taking off and landing. The bathroom had so much mold that we had to close the door in the bathroom to keep the smell down. There was no dining close by. Will not stay again and would not recommend.

The staff is so helpful and you can text the hotel number with any questions and they always responded to me within 1 minute, the pool was clean and it was heated, the beach is so close, we had a door that led to a cute backyard, you have everything you could possibly need in the tip of your fingers. The staff is so friendly too. I would definitely stay here again.

Absolutely loved this hotel. The dog run was amazing for our pups. And the location you can’t beat. Dylan and the other front desk manager were extremely nice and accommodating. Would absolutely stay here again, can’t recommend enough.

As a local who travels regularly this is a perfectly fine gem hidden at the foot of Dog Beach in Ocean Beach. Walk to any number of restaurants and People’s Co-Op store. Visit Dog Beach just about outside the door of your room and then have a wander up the beach to Newport Ave and grab some grub and see the fantastic carnival of people watching.

Right on dog beach. Beautiful sunset through from our balcony. The property is in decent shape and the location is amazing. Away from the crowds of ocean beach but still close enough to walk to everything. Service was on point! Thanks for a great stay.

It's an OK hotel that is overpriced for what you get. Yes, it's in a nice location near the beach, but the rooms aren't great and the "amenities" are non-existent. If you get a top-floor room facing the lagoon/channel, then the view mostly makes up for it, but the bottom floor and the parking lot rooms (no view) aren't worth it. And now they've added a $15/day "resort fee" for what is essentially a bare-bones motel. We had a MUCH better experience staying on Shelter Island a few minutes away on the San Diego harbor side.

Location was perfect as well as the price, however the room smelled like a kennel and there was a homeless camp directly in my patio area that I encountered every time I took my pet out. I really feel like it would have been fine if they would just invest more in sanitation and at least warn about transients since there isn't really anything they can do about it.

This hotel has all the disadvantages I have ever experienced: Noisy: you can hear someone is walking on the 2nd floor, although I know he is just normally walking. Only provides small bottle shampoo: is the shampoo really too expensive? No room cleaning for 3 days. Smells bad: not sure what the smell is， maybe dogs’? Dirty bedding and flat pillows. Small bathroom. Noisy AC.

The towels had someone else’s hair, they didn’t sweep at all, the kleenex were empty and the coffee machine was dirty. We added another night before checking in and they made us leave the room check out at 11 and wait till 4 to check back in again.

What a great, dog friendly place! We were within minutes (literally out the back door!) of walking to the beach and right next to the dog friendly beach area. It was so much fun seeing all the dogs running and playing! Once we were done at the beach, Ocean Villa Inn had a nice dog washing area - complete with shampoo and towels. The front desk was friendly and helpful with ideas of where to eat. So many great places within walking distance. This entire area is so dog friendly! Many restaurants that were dog friendly, had treats and water available. We loved the walk out area from our room to a backyard for the dogs. They provided a pooper scooper for that area too. I rarely write hotel reviews and rarely stay at the same place twice as we like to try new spots. However, we would definitely stay here again as it was affordable and had everything we needed!

Dated motel but location is great. Like other people have stated in their reviews, the rooms are outdated and lots of repairs need to be done to the rooms (parts of the wall are all torn off, chunks of wood out of the furniture). This hotels definitely works well for if you have a dog. The wash area is great to wash off your sandy dog after a short walk to the dog beach. We had an issue with our first room when we arrived as a previous dog had pee'd on the wall and that's all you could smell and the wall was still wet but the front staff was great in immediately switching us to another room. Overall based on the current reviews, it is not a 4 star motel and I wouldn't stay here again unless I knew it was more of a 3 star accommodation.
