It’s always nice to be near the beach when you’re on vacation. We were in San Clemente for a wedding and staying at the travel lodge put us within walking distance of the wedding venue. Our hotel was older but very clean and comfortable.
The picture shown on Expedia shows the property on the beach and that is not so at all. We spilled water on the hardwood floor and wiped it up with a washcloth that was white but filthy after. There were dead bugs in the lights inside and the balcony was dirty, especially the air conditioner.
Every room has an ocean view or a golf course view - we were given a massive room with an ocean view balcony, powerful shower, fridge, microwave etc.
Clearly a dated property, but the rooms have been refurbed recently.
It's right next to the freeway bit but you dont notice it.

We are surprised to receive this rating, as you did not check-in and stay at our hotel. Please note your stay was subject to the no-show and late cancellation hotel policy per the booking terms you agreed to. Upon arrival, a team member came outside and kindly greeted you with instructions on where to check-in and park, however it seems you decided to leave immediately thereafter. We wish you could have stayed with us and hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back on a future visit to the area.

We checked in staff, very nice, when we got to our bed we found what could be bloodstains on the sheets, we striped the bed to sleep. Staff is nice, does not feel clean.

For to amount I paid I was so dissatisfied. Our room was very old and un updated also right by a busy highway. Uncomfortable beds, loud window unit air conditioner. Ocean was not visible or accessible from our room. There was a florescent light on the porch that stayed on all night without an off switch. Someone was smoking in the adjacent room. Would not recommend.

Hotel is old but the room itself was clean and had what we needed and expected from a basic hotel. The hotel
Is located right next to the freeway which was pretty loud but on the upside there was an ocean view from our balcony. Check in was easy and the attendant was very kind and suggested good restaurants and fun things to do.

It is highway noisy, but that does not bother me.

Staff was great, but facility needed better electrical. We had problems plugging in a CPAP machine and charging phones. Wall mounted lights were a piece of crap with 120VAC sockets and USB outlets that made intermittent contact with plugs. Obviously not UL rated. I plugged in phone thinking it would charge, but cord did not make contact.

This property is not what is advertised. Next to the freeway and extremely noisy. Tried to cancel after the first night and they refused to refund the additional 2 nights booked. Expedia was unable to assist even after contacting the hotel. Much better places to stay in the area and worth’s the extra money.

While your 2nd night may not have been cancellable given the required 24-hour advance notice, the 3rd night would have been happily released by our team. However, if your stay was booked as a non-refundable prepaid reservation via third party Expedia, unfortunately it would be up to Expedia, not the hotel. As such, we are very surprised to hear about your comments. Our team would be happy to provide further clarification and assistance on this matter if you call the hotel with your reservation details. The location was great. The room was not very clean. There is limited parking, be prepared to park in the alley. There are much better places to stay, like right next door. It is right off the highway, so there is never any quiet time. Google maps leads you to the back door. Staff was friendly. Was able to see the ocean from our balcony.

Our staff works hard to provide clean accommodations, but we will definitely share your comments with our housekeeping team to ensure consistent positive experiences for our future guests. While parking is limited, please note it is complementary and our staff always ensures each guest is accommodated on site or just a few steps away with a parking pass. In addition, I'm happy to say Google maps is now correctly providing directions to the front of our building. This was a new issue recently and we submitted a request to Google immediately as we want to ensure our guests have an efficient and welcoming experience entering our hotel. I like the location and convenience to get around easily. Enjoyed sitting out on the balcony at all times of the day and night. Only downfall was the night road construction. The front desk staff were very friendly and welcoming.

We checked in and had to leave almost immediately due to an issue not related to this hotel so i cant give a solid review but the room was clean. No frills hotel but a convenient quiet spot. The lady at the front desk is an absolute gem.
