We were in suite 0404. Our room was over the garbage pick up location for the hotel. We were awoken at 6:30 am by the sound of the garbage truck. This continued for 20 min. The second morning we were awoken at 7:30 am by the noise of outside construction just below us. This continued throughout the morning. On checking out that day we reported the unacceptable noise pollution to the assistant manager who responded that the noise was outside of his control. While this may be true, notifying guests that noise may be an issue during their stay, is perfectly within his control and gives the guest the ability to make an informed decision whether or not to stay at that hotel. Despite sending us five separate emails regarding the hotel and its amenities prior to our visit there was not a single mention of the noise issue. In contrast, the Westin Ottawa which also has a construction noise issue notified us, without prompting, 5 days prior to our visit.
A good hotel should be able to meet three basic functions: provide a good night's rest, a clean functional bathroom, and reasonable food. Everything else is superfluous. At nearly $500/night a good night's sleep is not a lot to ask.

Friendly staff. Large room, very clean, had all the toiletries, the shampoo they have makes your hair so soft. There was a fridge, microwave, and sink in the room that’s outside of bathroom! Hotel is located right across from Chinatown and a 24 hour convenience store on the same block around the corner if you go around. There’s free breakfast each day. They hold your luggage for free after check out. I recommend and would come back again!
