Pros: The staff was very nice, location was close to some very nice fine dining. food here in old riga is amazing.
Hotel staff is wonderful, cleanliness of the room was unacceptable. Non-stop stomping from the room above, could not relax at all.

Excellent position in old town.

Posted 09-May-2017
Pros: It's central location was superb. The staff were friendly.
Cons: The bath had mold on the lower tiles, we returned twice at around 4 in the afternoon and our room had still not been serviced.
Location: Amazing - art galleries, museums, theatre, coffee bars and dining facilities
A beautiful place. All sights and museums were easily accessible. Good food to be had everywhere. The only drawback was noise from outside at night which was awful. Stag/Hen nights shouting until 4/5am giving us very little sleep.

Good central hotel

Posted 01-May-2017
Good for easy access to centre of the Old Time but some nearby bars are open until 6am so lots of noise. Reception staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. Rooms are clean but starting to look a little tired. Could really use a mirror near a socket other than in the bathroom!

Easy access to all of old town

Posted 22-Apr-2017
Pros: The price and the location. Comfortable large room.
Cons: Better service. Alternative choices for coffee type at breakfast.
Location: Right in the middle of Old Riga and accessible to all sights therein.
Other than thin walls allowing transmission of voices and steps of other guests, I was satisfied with or stay at Rixwell Centra. A bit frustrating was the necessity to request clean towels at 16:30 when our room was not visited by cleaning staff despite our placing a "Please Clean Room" sign on the door at 10:45. I had to wait about 15 minutes in the lobby in order to make a request for a change of towels. The front desk person, who was very sweet, but very inefficient, was checking in one woman. Then, she turned to a hotel worker to do something with her, but I "exploded," stating that I was waiting 15 minutes for a request for new towels. This was a very dissatisfying experience. Breakfast was ordinary and did not offer any gluten free bread or baked goods. Coffee was strong (typical European), but not to my taste. A number of other hotels do have a coffee machine with choices. The only choice here was take it or leave it.

Disappointing

Posted 17-Apr-2017
Pros: Central location
Cons: Redecorate, brown wallpaper, tired carpets and an honest write up. This is by no means a 4 star hotel.
Location: As it's located in the Old Town, it is close to all the sites with plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from.
We chose this hotel due to its central location and good reviews. On arrival reception was welcoming and helpful. However, our room on the 4th floor, whilst spacious, was tired with bleach stains on the carpet and damp peeling walls in the bathroom. This is the first hotel I have stayed in that provided ear plugs - but we needed them. The bar next door was open playing music until 6am (that isn't mentioned in the write-up). The room was too hot but we couldn't open the window due to the noise and the controller for the air con was missing. The breakfast room in the basement had a strange smell but the breakfast itself was good. We were glad to leave.

Great and not so great location

Posted 26-Feb-2017
Great location for access to all the main bars, restaurants, tourist sites and public transport. But it is opposite an all-night karaoke pub and next door to a rock music bar. So Fridays and Saturdays can be very noisy. The hotel has no bar at the moment - just a shell being refurbed - which was a shame. There is a breakfast room downstairs and the food was very good. Our hotel room was okay but mold had been painted over in the bathroom and tile grouting was very dirty. Shower head was also not adjustable. But heated floor was great. Room cleaning happened late in the day and the maid left us with no toilet paper on one occasion! For the price we paid, it was pretty good value. But we will stay outside the centre on our next visit, to ensure a decent night's sleep.

Ok hotel right in old town

Posted 09-Jan-2017
Room was clean by noisy due to a night club nextdoor. Guess that's been known issue since airplags were provided in advance. There was no hot water on the second day of our stay for about an hour but that was fixed promptly.
