"A lovely place to stay. We were on a trip to Bergerac and this was a one night stop so we didn't reallyhave a chance to experience the pool/spa, but the outside sitting areas were nice and being able to get wine and beer was really nice after a long drive. The hosts are every attentive, and although we can't speak french very well and their english was limited Google translate saved the day, especially at meal time when we sat with Celine and her family"

"Came for one night, and ended up staying for three, because we never wanted to leave. This is a pure haven for anyone just wanting to relax, calm their nerves and take in the beautiful evening sky whilst hanging in a pool. With kind horses all around, and the sound of nature and wind in the trees. With only a few rooms, you never experience too much of a crowd, and only the best people seem to end up here. The owners are the sweetest people, and we’ll definitely end up coming here every...

Clecy

"This is a very nice, well-kept property. The room was very nice, and the staff were very accommodating to our needs. There are potentially a lot of steps up and down on the property to get to one's room, so handicapped persons might experience some difficulty. The immediate area around the hotel is quiet, so moving one's car to load and unload luggage wasn't a problem, but the parking lot is small and down the hill from the hotel. The restaurant on site was very nice and the food was good."

Fierville Bray: Country Cottage / "Le Moulin de Bray" : House with character

10/10 Excellent

"Die Unterkunft und das Anwesend sind wunderschön. Das Haus hat alles was man benötigt und die Küche ist gut ausgestattet. Die Einkaufsmöglichkeiten (Bäcker, Metzger und Supermarkt) im Nachbarort sind super."

Large mansion for rent in Normandy, just a stone's throw from Suisse Normande!

8/10 Good

"A great property with plenty of space for families staying together. The swimming pool was excellent and the children loved it. A very quiet location, no noise from cars or roads but plenty of places to visit if you take the car!"

La Grange aux Lumières - Heated swimming pool - Nature

10/10 Excellent

"Martine was there to meet us when we arrived, very friendly and helpful. Her English was better than our French. The property was as advertised - a well-stocked kitchen with induction hob (and all the right pots and pans for this), a clean oven, and all the cutlery and utensils we'd be likely to need. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable and even the cockerel had the manners not to start crowing (is that the right word?) until around 10am, so sleep wasn't interrupted. It's a really quiet village but within very easy reach of a good supermarket with lots of fresh food and vegetables. It was a really, really hot week when we went and the prolonged drought meant that the grounds were totally parched, but there's plenty of space and after a little rain it will all be green again. During the week, we travelled as far south as Le Mans and Mont Saint-Michel, and up to the Normandy beaches in the north, and still had places we wanted to see and didn't have time. So, recommended for a week or longer, although I think shorter lets are available. We travelled from Portsmouth in the UK to Caen by ferry, which was really convenient and the drive to the house took less than an hour - once we'd got through customs."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Ri?

The best area to stay in Ri is within the village itself, particularly around the church and the main square.

Ri is a small, peaceful village, and its compact nature means that staying anywhere within its boundaries offers good access to its few local amenities. The village is centred around the Église Saint-Malo, a historic church, and a small square where you'll find the local boulangerie and a couple of other small businesses. The streets are generally quiet and residential, offering a chance to experience rural Normandy life.

For travellers seeking a quiet retreat or a base for exploring the surrounding countryside, staying in the heart of Ri is ideal. You're within easy walking distance of the village's spots, and it provides a calm environment after a day of exploring the region's D-Day landing beaches or historical sites.

When is the best time to go to Ri?

The best time to visit Ri, Normandy, France is late spring (May to early June) or early autumn (September to early October) for pleasant weather and fewer crowds.

During late spring, the countryside is verdant, and the temperatures are mild, typically ranging from 15°C to 20°C. This period is ideal for exploring the local markets and enjoying outdoor activities like cycling or walking along the Orne River. You'll find that attractions are fully open, but the peak summer tourist rush hasn't yet begun, ensuring a more relaxed experience.

Early autumn offers similar advantages with comfortable temperatures, usually between 14°C and 19°C, and the added beauty of changing foliage. This is a particularly good time for those interested in local produce and culinary experiences, as it coincides with harvest season.
