We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Its ran by really friendly staff who are bubbly, polite and happy to chat. The food was lovely. The room was quaint and clean. Seems they are midway through building self-catering rooms. Pretty building too. We will definitely return. 1 hour from Mount Snowdon! 🙂…

On arrival there was no one in reception after ringing the bell and knocking on windows we tried to phone the telepgone number. Then a gentleman appeared. The gentleman was very nice and showed us to our room. The room was clean but freezing . There was an electic heater on the wall so we put that on immediatly. Electric extention leads in place for kettle and heater so not kid friendly even though it was a family room. We then went to get some stuff from the car on exiting the room there was a gentleman frantically putting shake and vac on the carpet (this was not hoovered up while we were there). At the bottom of the very steep stairs there was abou 3 pushchairs. It had a feeling more of a hostel than a hotel . Breakfast was not offered or asked for. We were given a code to get into our room and for the front door as after 9 pm the front door should be locked (it was not locked at all) . The owners are obviously very passionate about their B&B and were super welcoming. The building itself is very charming/characteristic, the bed was very comfy and breakfast was amazing. We only wish we had more time there! …

Castle Gates…

This was the 1st time we have stayed in this type of accommodation as we've always stayed in hotels for our leisure breaks, that has now all changed, we are converts after staying 2 nights in Castle Gates. From the moment we arrived at the house to the moment we left, the whole experience was a fabulous, stress-free stay and will definitely stay again for one weekend next year at least, if Tom (the owner) isn't fully booked up. Great communication, great house with all the ammenities you'd ever need for your stay. We can't say enough good things about the house, the view, the area and the people and last but far from least Tom. Highly recommended.
