10/10 Excellent

"recommended best hotel in the valley"

Sonesta Hotel Yucay -Valle Sagrado

8/10 Good

"We booked a quadruple room with a 2nd floor (like a loft) for 4 people in Oct 2026. Two double beds on ground floor and two twins on loft. My adult children tried to sleep on the upper deck but was too hot. The room has no AC but without screens on the sliding door, opening them to sleep drew in lots of bugs. So the 4 of us ended up sleeping on 2 double beds, which was tight. Otherwise, the amenities in the room were fine. The buffet breakfast selection was reasonable. You can made to order eggs and pancakes. The garden of the hotel was very well maintained and was beautiful."

Tierra Viva Valle Sagrado Urubamba

10/10 Excellent

"I really enjoyed the friendly and helpful staff. They were welcoming and didn’t hesitate to answer any questions I had. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. With a lot of beautiful views all around. I had used the spa services (jacuzzi, dry sauna, steam room, and a massage) and they exceeded my expectations. The waitstaff at the restaurant were kind and attentive. And, I tried a lamb shank with mashed yucca and it was flavorful and delicious. The included breakfast also had a great assortment of options. If you are looking for peace and quiet and friendly staff and spa amenities, this is the place to go. The compound felt safe and secure and the resident alpacas were an added bonus to the serenity of the space. I would definitely book here again."

Sol Miranda Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"We stayed 1 night after Machu. It’s a solid little hotel. Excellent location and nice room. The view outside the window was of the Fortress! Very cool! There was complementary water bottles, a hot pot and various teas in the room, which was nice. My sheets were crisp and clean but my daughter said hers were not? The beds were very comfortable. We slept with the window open and it was perfect weather. The water situation was interesting. We had to put the knobs in a precise alignment for the water to turn off completely and there was NO WATER for part of the day. The manager said it would be back on at 5:00. It seems like it’s a common occurrence. It worked out fine because we were gone from the room and it was back on when we returned. The breakfast was the usual fair. The bread everywhere in Peru is amazing. The cook made an omelette with onions at our request and it was fantastic! They were kind enough to store our luggage. Overall good experience."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Raqchi?

The best area to stay in Raqchi is within the village itself, particularly close to the Raqchi Archaeological Park.

Staying in Raqchi village offers the most convenient access to the primary attraction, the Raqchi Archaeological Park, which houses the impressive Temple of Wiracocha. The village is small and offers a very local experience, with accommodations often being guesthouses or homestays that provide a direct connection to the community and its traditions. You'll find yourself just a short walk from the main entrance to the ruins.

For travellers interested in cultural immersion and a peaceful stay, Raqchi village is an excellent choice. You'll have the opportunity to experience the daily life of the local Quechua community, enjoy traditional meals, and learn about their crafts directly.

When is the best time to go to Raqchi?

The best time to go to Raqchi is during the dry season, which runs from May to October.

During these months, the weather is more predictable with less rainfall, making it ideal for exploring the archaeological park and the surrounding area. You'll find clearer skies and comfortable daytime temperatures, superb for outdoor activities like visiting the Temple of Wiracocha or walking through the local village.

For those who prefer slightly fewer crowds and still excellent weather, May and October are particularly good options. The peak tourist season tends to be June, July, and August, so these shoulder months offer a similar quality experience with a bit more tranquility.
