I really enjoyed the friendly and helpful staff. They were welcoming and didn’t hesitate to answer any questions I had. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. With a lot of beautiful views all around.
I had used the spa services (jacuzzi, dry sauna, steam room, and a massage) and they exceeded my expectations. The waitstaff at the restaurant were kind and attentive. And, I tried a lamb shank with mashed yucca and it was flavorful and delicious. The included breakfast also had a great assortment of options.
If you are looking for peace and quiet and friendly staff and spa amenities, this is the place to go. The compound felt safe and secure and the resident alpacas were an added bonus to the serenity of the space.
I would definitely book here again.
The place was good and relaxing but it is away from town. No activities in hotel. Good if you want to relax before or after machu pichu. Room is clean and has good views. Breakfast was nice

Very warm and helpful staff. Beautiful and well maintained grounds. Spacious and comfortable room with a good shower.
A special place to rest after The Inca trail. Surrounded by beautiful views, and lovely flowers blooming added to the atmosphere of tranquility. The breakfast was delicious with much to choose from. Checking in and out was simple and the staff was helpful guiding us to our next destination.
Room was super impressive with large space and bed with stunning views.
Had a great massage as a reasonable price.
Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Restaurant food at lunch and evening was top class quality. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
The scenery was idyllic and we loved the solitude. The hotel and grounds were beautiful, the food was great, and best of all, the staff were fantastic. From the front desk to wait staff to massage therapist to manager, everyone was incredibly kind and accommodating. I highly recommend staying here!
Beautiful Quiet gem. We stayed there for 3 nights in September. We loved the location. It is surrounded by mountains and view from the room is gorgeous. Service was excellent. All staff are always ready to everything that will improve your experience.
This property is located in an unbelievably beautiful area surrounded by mountains, but it is quite far from Urubamba. Because of this, getting to the city is difficult unless you arrange a taxi. Fortunately, the hotel provides a 24/7 paid taxi service.
The hotel features a beautiful restaurant with kind, friendly, and attentive staff. They carefully listened to our allergy restrictions and ensured all of our dietary needs were met. It is wonderful that such a remote location offers a great dining option exclusively for hotel guests.
However, the overall rating is 3 stars instead of 5 because of the taxi service, which the hotel outsources. We asked our driver to take us to a famous farm known for llamas and alpacas, but he took us to a different local business instead because it benefited him financially. Even though we paid for a full 6 hours and offered to pay extra, the driver took a shortcut to Cusco and ignored our original request simply because he thought the destination was too far. He clearly had an arrangement with a local boutique and prioritized taking us there, which ruined our experience in Peru a bit and forced us to look for that experience elsewhere. Because the hotel is isolated and guests are dependent on Spanish-speaking drivers, you may find yourself at a disadvantage.
We stayed seven nights at Tierra Viva and it was the perfect base for exploring the Sacred Valley. The property is beautiful and serene, and the staff were friendly and accommodating throughout.
Our spacious room was comfortable, though standard rooms don’t include a fridge. Interestingly, the standard rooms actually seemed nicer than the superior rooms, so don’t feel you need to upgrade.
The complimentary à la carte breakfast options were a lovely touch. In the evenings, the hotel lights the fireplace around 19:00 and sells marshmallows to roast, which became a charming nightly ritual. The spa is well equipped with a jacuzzi, steam room, and finnish sauna, though access must be booked in advance and isn’t included. We also loved the touchless water bottle refill station.
The road from the main road to the hotel is quite bumpy, so don’t be alarmed. Uber is unreliable in this area, with drivers frequently not showing up. We nearly missed our train to Machu Picchu, but the receptionist saved us by booking a taxi.
Tips: ask the hotel to arrange transfers and activities, or use Taxidatum, which is fair priced and trustworthy. For llamas and alpacas, take a taxi to Mountain View Experience for lunch.
Tierra Viva is the best value in the region. Highly recommended.
This hotel is in the middle of nowhere and they charge 45soles for a cab. There were dozens of bugs in our room at night. We got massages that were not worth the money. We chose to leave a day early and they refused to refund us for the next night.
