The owner is friendly and fun. We arrived after 10pm but he was waiting for us there. The best part is he shared lots of his adventures and photos. We were so inspired by his interesting life. And we had great chat with other passengers too during the nice free breakfast. This is the best stay of our Iceland trip! We loved it

Peaceful Stay in the Country
We stayed in one of the cottages. It was very quiet and comfortable. There are no restaurants for dinner near by so plan ahead. The breakfast was included and had a good selection of things to eat. It was served at a big table in the main house and gave us a chance to meet the host and the other guests.

What a great place!
This was my favorite place I stayed in my trip around Iceland. It was such a cozy and comfortable space. The breakfast was delicious and I had a great time conversing with our host. I would definitely like to stay here again when I visit the country.

We lived in one of host August's cottages. It was clean and very nice rural environment. August will prepare you very nice free breakfast well. You can ask him everything about Iceland. I highly recommend.

Our host was gracious, laid-back, and wonderful to talk to! We were so happy to have a different kind of experience while staying in Iceland and not just being stuck in hotels. The cottage was rustic and breakfast was delicious. The bed wasn’t the most comfortable but it was good enough for a few days. We loved the area.

It was a bit tough to find this property at first as the most direct route is a quick turn from the highway to a pitted dirt road. Easy to get to once you know where you're going. Check-in was a bit challenging. There didn't appear to be an email address to contact the owner so had to make an international phone call which I would have preferred not to have done. Was told that there would be someone at the property to meet us but there wasn't so then needed to make another call. An email contact would be great as the owner is very interesting and would have been a great person to discuss travel and adventure ideas in the area prior to arriving. Breakfast was quite nice and at a communal table. Stayed in the family suite with five of us and using a shared bathroom. It was cozy but it worked. Overall, a great experience.

Thank you for the comments. Re. finding the property and quick turn from highway. We normally have no problems re. finding the property. The main road quick turn, well what can we say.....what kind of a turn can one expect ? people drive on Route 1 and we have an exit directly from route 1....thats simply how roads are made in Iceland. We can not be resonsible for governmental roads. Well Iceland has lots of dirt roads all over as well as very narrow roads. People must accept that. Its not in our hands to change roads and not possible to compare roads in Iceland to US/Canadian road systems. We do not have suits, wehave simple rooms and we are not a hotel, we are country home guesthouse and its absolutely announced that there is sharing bathrooms. hotels are alot more expensive then we are due to the fact we are guesthouse and its peoples choice where they stay and how much they want to spend on accommodation.

This is a unique accommodation offering a charming wood-built cottage and main house and a great personal connection with the owner (or the owner’s sister, in our case.) we really enjoyed connecting with her, admiring the amazing view and their Icelandic horses, and attacking the delicious breakfast buffet laid out for us!

We booked the accomodation via expedia though it was closed and not prepared for guests when we arrived on site. The host was not on site but managed a friend to prepare everything for us and hand us over the key - so we had the entire appartment for our own and a very firendly and helpful neighbour. Great service!

The best guesthouse in Iceland for us
Our host was very nice and taught us a lot about Iceland. We stayed in a cottage, which was very cozy and had a kitchen and refrigerator. The garden and the building were very beautiful and comfortable.

No restaurant on premises.
Although they promise you a restaurant for youre dinner, this is not available. You are told to find a restaurant in the nearest town, 10 km away. It seems that the owner is out of town and have left the management of the hotel to a somewhat confusing check in. But a part from that, I guess the stay was ok.

It would never be possible if I am there 364 day s a year.Thank you
