Overall, we were disappointed with this hotel for a number of reasons. First and foremost, this is an all-inclusive resort and we do not care for this type of hotel. We prefer being able to choose where and what we want to eat. We chose this hotel for the good experiences we have had with the Fiesta Americana chain of hotels, in particular, the Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Reef in Cancún. This one in Puerto Vallarta simply cannot hold a candle to it. This is the first all-inclusive hotel in the Fiesta Americana chain we have been to and it will be our last. The food and drinks were mediocre and the food selections, especially in the three evening meal restaurants was quite limited. Service and amenities here simply did not live up to what we have come to expect from the Fiesta Americana hotels. But if you like all-inclusive resorts, this one is a nice one.
One of the things that really turned us off to this hotel was the check-in. We thought it was going to go great when we were met by a representative when we got out of the taxi who told us that he would take us to the VIP room for our check-in instead of having to go through the front desk. All we and good but we quickly realized that he was really a representative of the Fiesta Americana vacation club and that he was trying to get us interested in joining. As soon as we realized what was happening we made it clear that we were not interested but he kept insisting. We do not appreciate that kind of deceptive practice.
