Beggars Reach Hotel

Beggars Reach Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"Fantastic setting. Beautiful building and comfy beds. Did not enjoy the curry but breakfasts were great. Loo handle in room 14 fell off a few times and cistern was slow to fill. Shower was fab and the big fluffy towels were super. Very helpful and friendly staff."

Slebech Park Restaurant & Rooms

Slebech Park Restaurant & Rooms

8/10 Good
"Stunning location, clean room and overall good value for money. I would've scored higher for amenities if the room had a fridge and all the plug sockets worked. Fascinating history, you must read the history of these ancient grounds before you take a walk, especially around the 12th century ruins. The staff were lovely but unfortunately the restaurant on the Friday was shambolic, with barely anything available from the already small menu, it took ages to arrive and was missing key ingredients when it eventually did. It's only a small restaurant too and I felt for the young staff doing their absolute best."

Twr Y Felin Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"This was hands down our best overnight stay in Wales. The hotel is fabulous. The staff are amazing. Rooms are modern and every detail has been painstakingly well considered. The art on every wall is so interesting. We were absolutely blown away. I had mentioned that we were on a trip celebrating my partner’s birthday and they arranged a bottle of prosecco. Alison at reception was one of the most helpful and kind people in that role. We truly cannot say enough about this hotel."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Pontfaen?
The best area to stay in Pontfaen is within the village itself, or in one of the surrounding hamlets for a more secluded experience.Pontfaen village sits in the heart of the Gwaun Valley, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It's a small, peaceful community centred around the historic pub, which is a focal point for local life and a great place to meet residents. The village is an excellent base for exploring the valley's walking trails and offers a true sense of rural Welsh life. For couples seeking a romantic and tranquil escape, staying in a cottage or guesthouse just outside the main village offers increased privacy and stunning views of the valley. You'll find fewer crowds compared to the peak summer season, allowing for a more peaceful experience at popular spots like the Gwaun Valley. The local flora, such as bluebells in spring or autumnal colours, adds to the scenic beauty.Couples looking for a romantic and tranquil getaway will find these periods particularly appealing. The cooler temperatures are great for long walks along the coastline or through wooded valleys, followed by cosy evenings in a local pub. Many of the smaller, independent guesthouses and restaurants are still fully operational but with a more relaxed pace.Families travelling with younger children might also prefer these times to avoid the intense summer heat and larger crowds at attractions.
